In addition to his regular duties he had special charge of their Investment Department. He then assisted in organizing The Cleveland Sales Co., which has already had much to do with furthering the industrial interests of Northern Ohio. Left school to take up the malt business in which his father was engaged. In 1887 he entered the beer manufacturing industry. Purchasing the old Schmidt & Hoffman Brewing Co. he formed the Cleveland Brewing Co., which he managed until that concern was consolidated in 1898 with the Cleveland & Sandusky Brewing Co. He was made vice president of the merger and in 1899 became president of the concern. He is a member of numerous German clubs and singing societies. Politically he is Independent.
