PROVIDENCE JOURNAL-DEATHS

THE PROVIDENCE JOURNAL.

THE PROVIDENCE JOURNAL AND TOWN AND COUNTRY AD- VERTISER was a weekly paper published on Wednesday by John Carter, Jr., at the new Printing Office, west side of the Great Bridge, Providence. Terms $2.00 per year.

It was a 4-page sheet with 4 columns to a page, and some larger than the "Observer" or the " Gazette."

The first number was dated Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1799.

Early the announcement was made that as soon as patronage would warrant it would be a semi-weekly, at not more than $3.00 per year.

April 17, under the title was added " Printer of the Laws of the United States for the State of Rhode Island, &c" and the Editor announces that half of the sheet will be devoted to the Laws.

After Oct. 2, it was only a half-sheet until its discontinuance Dec. 30, ISOI.

Of these papers we have seen all but No. 78, (June 25, 1801).
