From the beginning of the church until 1916 Quitaque was in the Plainview District In 1916 it was in the Vernon Dis- trict and for the following six years it was in the Clarendon District and from that time on has been back in the Plainview District.
During the pastorate of J. E. Boyd, the church was blessed with a wonderful revival. L. N. Lipscomb, then of Chillicothe
did the preaching. Many of the present membership was ad- ded to the church during that meeting. The church became a station in the fall of 1925 and with the rapid growth of the town at that time one hundred and forty members were ad- ded to the church during the four years pastorate of J. E. Stephens. During the present pastorate fifty-one members have been received. The present merbership is over two hun- dred.

The "Pollyanna" Sunday School Class of the Quitaque Methodist Church was organized in 1916 with the present teacher, Mrs. A. L. Patterson as teacher and ten pupils. The fourteen years of this class history present an interesting re- velation. No other class in our Sunday School has continued through this period with the honor of retaining the same teacher and class spirit as this class.
Out from this class have gone worthy representatives of the class spirit to take their place in lives of activities. Among them is H. M. Baker, principal of the Childress high school, Quah Rumph student of medicine at Galveston, J. O. Baker Judge O. R. Tipps, present County Judge of Briscoe County, and Louis Stockton, public school teachers, and others.
Mrs. Patterson is recognized as one of the best teachers in our school. In addition to this the class can boast of a teacher who is agreeable, friendly, tactful and thoroughly Christian. The other officers of the class are Paul Hamilton, president; Miss Lizzie Shoemaker, Secretary.

Professor A. E. Boyd took charge as teacher of the Men's Bible Class of the Quitaque Methodist Church in the late sum- mer of 1929. At that time there was 25 members, and at the present time there are 63 members on roll.
Mr. Boyd has proven himself "A Man's man" and a teach- er of ability.
Mr. J. W. Ewing is class president and N. V. Hamilton, secretary: There is a congenial atmosphere about this class that gives one a welcome he enjoys. Mr. C. G. Huggins, class usher is always on the job to welcome and make you feel at home.
Along with our distinctly religious teaching we have a weekly program of social activities which is enjoyed by all members of the class.

The Cradle Roll Department enrolls the babies from infan_ cy to four years of age. In the church there is a small room furnished as a nursery which is used only as a place to keep our babies. The purpose of the cradle roll department, how- ever, is not to keep only, but teach as well. They are supplied with a few simple toys which help to make the children feel at home. For their amusement as well as instruction, they . have finger plays, exercise games, picture study, much sing- ing, simple stories and sentence prayers. These combined keep the child very busy and usually, he does not have time to real- ize that he is being kept away from his mother.
Mrs. P. C. Hamilton is our very efficient cradle roll super_ intendent, and her interest in the work, combined with her love for the child life, make the department the success that it is. Your child will be safe in her care.
It is to be regreted that we were not able to make the Pic- torial Directory large enough to give some space to each de- partment of the church and Sunday School. It was the origin- al purpose to have a picture of every department, but the fi- nancial condition at present and the moving of our photogra_ pher has made the smaller booklet necessary.

Sunday School History
A full and complete history of the Sunday School organi- zation in Quitaque, from the first would be hard to secure. Like most every good and worthy organization, it had its struggle for existance and many times went into temporary winter quarters.
Among the Superintendents of the union Sunday School were A. L. Donnel, Fulton and Walter Hunt.
The first Sunday School was organized in a small school house whichstood somewhere West of the present ball park. Later this was moved to the location where Mrs. Ross lives.
The Methodits church was built in 1908 under the pastor- ate of Rev. C. D. Pipkin and finished in 1909. There the union school was continued until 1917 when the Methodist Sunday School was organized under the pastorate of Rev. C. E. Lynn and T. M. Beauchamp was elected Superintendent. In the fall of the same year Mr. A. L. Patterson was elected Superintendent and has continued as head of the Sunday School work since that date.
The long and unbroken record of Sunday School work on the part of Borther Patterson has endeared him in the hearts of the people of our community.
His regularity in attendance and interest in the work of religious education has paved the way for the success of the school.
With the growth of the town at the coming of the Fort Worth and Denver railroad, the Sunday School grew to a more pleasing membership and attendance. Thus far in the year 1930 the average attendance has been 142. The highest attendance 191. This record is much higher than any previous year.
The present corps of officers are ;- A. L. Patterson, Mrs. J. B. Russell, Professor A. E. Boyd, Mrs. A. L. Patterson Prof. R. C. Hammack, Miss Ila Faye Selby, Mrs. J. H. Hughes, Mrs Joe Graham, Miss Minnie Mae Roberson, Mrs. R. D. Kutch, Mrs. J. T. Persons, Mrs. P. C. Hamilton and Mary Rucker.
The frame Methodist church building was razed in July, 1927 and the present church basement was erected. While we are still using the basment for church worship we trust it will not be long before we can complete the building. When com- plete it will be one of the very best in this section of the country, and a credit to our city.

The ladies were separated from the Men's Class in 1926 and organized into a Ladies Class with Mrs. J. B. Russell as teacher and Mrs. B. R. Ezzell as president. Mrs. Russell is re- cognized as one of the most efficient teachers of morals and religion in our congregation and that is attested by the fidel- ity and apprecation of the class members.
The present officers are: Mrs. H. G. Gardiner, president; Mrs. J. W. Ewing, Secretary and Mrs. Russell, teacher. Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Ewing have held their respective offices in the class since its organization. This class has been active in many good movements other than teaching. Church furnish- ing, beautifying of grounds, church decorating, caring for the poor of the community are among the other items of activity.

This class was organized eight month ago with only four members. Miss Ila Faye Selby was elected teacher and the class grew from the beginning. In May, Mr. Sanders was made substitute teacher for the summer and the class continued to grow under the leadership of the new teacher and prospects are good that this will soon be one of the largest classes in the school.
