WINDSOR COUNTY DIRECTORY.
E. T. HOLT,
VETERINARY DENTIST
SURGEON AND FARRIER,
Office in the Third Dwelling House South of the Postoffice, TYSON FURNACE, VT.
MR. HOLT obtained from the late PROF. C. C. POTTER, of Boston, Mass., his skill in operating upon the teeth of horses. and now, after three years' experience inthe prac- tice of PROF. POTTER's Improved Method of Veterinary Dentistry, respectfully calls the attention of horse owners and asks them to investigate his method of treatment ard operations upon diseased teeth. Some of the various results on horses having bad teeth are Coughing, Frothing, Droolir g, Loss of Flesh, Hide-Bound, Discharging at the Nose, Scouring, Running at the Eyes, Drowsiness, Tossing of the Head, Stopping Short on the Road, Starting Suddenly, Driving on One Rein, Pulling, Bolting, Backing and Shy- ing. Almost invariably one or more of the above mentioned diseases or habits is sure to follow as a result of diseased or ill-shaped teeth in the horse, and in consequence thereof it is very difficult to keep the horse in condition, and if poor it is impossible to fatten him. Young and old horses suffer alike in such cases, and after being treated by my improved method will become good drivers and keep easily in good condition. The most wild and vicious horse will calmly submit to my method of operation without the use of gag or twister.
Having practiced for more than twenty years last passed in the treatment of all diseases of horses and other domestic animals, and having made Splints, Curbs, Spavins, Ring or Side Bones, and all diseases of the horse's feet a specialty, MR. HOLT will attend upon calls from a distance on notice, and will put up prescriptions with directions to be sent by mail or otherwise.
Orders by mail promptly attended to. Address,
E. T. HOLT, Tyson Furnace, Vt.
REFERENCES.
TYSON FURNACE, VT., Oct. 27, 1883.
I occupy a stock farm of 500 acres. Keep a miscellaneous stock. Have twelve horses the present season. Have employed E. T. HOLT for the past two years in all cases requiring a veterinarian. His treatment of several diseases and wounds has proved very successful. Last summer had a horse wounded in the shoulder, laying bare the muscles of the leg nearly seven inches. Supposed the horse was spoiled, but E. T. Hour treated the wound successfully and the horse is to-day as good as before. I would cordially recommend him to all in need of a veterinarian. E. M. PINNEY.
TYSON FURNACE, VT., Oct. 30, 1883.
I keep some eight or ten horses. Have employed E. T. HOLT as veterinarian for some time. He will take an old horse when his teeth are so bad he cannot eat hay and cut them so he can eat for several years. I have had him operate several times on both old and young horses' mouths with the best of results. Last season I had a valuable horse driven hard, and then drank when she was warm, and the next morning it was almost impossible to get her out of the barn. I never saw a horse in worse condition. Everyone who saw the horse said she was spoiled and was not worth one dollar; that if she lived she never would do to drive again. I employed E. T. HOLT to doctor her and to-day I can get $200 for her, and I cannot see but she is just as limber and good in every respect as she was before.
A. F. HUBBARD. LUDLOW, VT., Oct. 20, 1883.
I had a sucking colt wounded on a barb-wire fence. He was cut by seventeen barbs. The muscles on one fore leg were severed and his breast all torn open. E. T. HOLT treated the case successfully. It is now a little over a year since the colt was hurt and there is not a scar to be seen on him. NORIS JOSSLYN.
