PREFACE.

Ws present to our patrons our first Directory of Watertown, confident that it will be found as nearly complete as a thorough and systematic canvass could make it.

Errors will, occur in collecting and arranging such a large list of names.

Great care has been taken to obtain the name of every person who should bo represented in a Directory, and we presume the few errors . which appear in the following pages will be overlooked.

Tho General Directory contains about 2500 names, which, presuming one-fourth of the citizens to have been taken, shows a population of 10,000 in the. City. .

We return to our patrons our sineero acknowledgments for the sup- port they, have given the undertaking.
