FOR THE CURE OF ACUTE AND
CHRONIC DISEASES

San Diego, Cal.
This institution is strictly a Kneipp institution. All treatments are ad- ministered in exact accordance with the precepts of Kneipp himself. My marvelous success in curing the sick has been achieved through means of my long experience, coupled with the knowledge of how to properly admin- ister the various treatments, and by strictly confining myself to the Kneipp method of treatment. Numberless sufferers have come to me afflicted with very critical diseases which had been pronounced incurable by other prac- titioners. But with my method of treatment I have obtained the most astonishing results, restoring them to health. I hold in my possession numerous testimonials substantiating the above statement; testimonials freely tendered to me by the best people in the city and elsewhere. All sufferers desiring relief, who are not familiar with the Kneipp treatment as it is practised by me, are requested to call, and I will furnish them con- vincing proofs that any and all diseases, whether acute or of long standing, will yield to my system of using the Kneipp method of treatment. I charge nothing for consultation. Pamphlets furnished upon request.

VISIT
LA JOLLA
The Gem ...
One of the most beautiful seaside resorts in California, situated fourteen miles north of San Diego, on line of the LA JOLLA RAILWAY
ONE OF THE CAVES AT LA JOLLA
You find here some of the most rugged, picturesque scenery on the coast. Among the attractions are the seven Mammoth Caves, carved from the Giant Cliffs by the hand of nature; also Cathedral Rock, Alli- gator Head and Gold-fish Point.
The Sub-marine Gardens, viewed from glass-bottomed boats, through which you can see gold-fish feeding among the rainbow-tinted shells, gorgeously colored sea-mosses and rocks, are magnificent.
The Caves can be entered and explored at low tide from the water side, or at any time through the TUNNEL constructed by Prof. Schulz.
For further information and tickets, apply at all railway and hotel offices, branch offices, or at station, foot of D Street, San Diego.

INTRODUCTORY.
In presenting this volume, we desire to congratulate its patrons and our citizens generally on another year's record of remarkable and most satisfactory growth and progress. It is needless for us to give elaborate and detailed statements of this growth.
The evidence in plenty is on every hand, and the daily press has from time to time furnished full and gratifying reports showing the great gains made in postoffice business, bank clearances, school en- rollment, etc.
Happily, in the history of San Diego, her years of adversity have been few, as compared with those of rapid growth and abundant prosperity.
There is that in the situation of San Diego-her natural advan- ,tages, the pluck and business enterprise, and the loyalty of her citizens, that she simply can not be held back or discouraged, and soon the new and better era of great prosperity and growth will begin.
The City Directory will try to be a faithful and trustworthy ex- ponent of the City's progress, industrially and commercially.
The City Directory is becoming more and more acknowledged as one of every business man's necessities, if he desires to carry on his business economically and successfully.
We have endeavored to keep step with the growth and progress of the City, and we believe the present volume will be found to con- tain all the necessary features of a modern, up-to-date work of the kind. By our system of exchange with other cities, the San Diego Directory finds a place in the Directory Libraries of nearly all the principal cities in the United States and Canada.
POPULATION .- The greatest care has been exercised in compiling this volume. Our Directory shows 12,780 names in the alphabeti- cal list of San Diego, an increase of 2, 103 over the last issue. Cor- onado contains 690 names, showing a decrease since the previous publication. National City has 726 names, showing an increase of 122. It is customary when estimating the population of a city to multiply the number of names in the directory by 212. Instead, we use 214, and by so doing it gives San Diego a population of 28,755.
Accompanying this book is an indexed map of the City of San Diego, engraved expressly for the San Diego Directory Co.
We desire to extend our sincere thanks to our patrons and all who have rendered assistance by giving information for this work.
THE PUBLISHERS.
