FORESTERS OF AMERICA.


The objects of this Order are to unite fra- ternally all white males of good character, between the ages of eighteen and fifty years. to aid its sick members, bury its dead, give relief to their widows and orphans, to find employment for the unemployed members, and all other benevolent purposes. There are one hundred and sixty-five courts in this state; with a membership of about twenty thousand, also auxilliaries which are known as Knights of Sherwood Forest. Companions of the Forest of America and the Junior Courts.


The Supreme head of the Order is known as the Supreme Court and was organized in Minneapolis, on August the 15th, 1889, they having on that day seceded from the Ancient Order of Foresters, whose Supreme head is in England. The Supreme Court meets bien- nially and the next meeting will be held in Chicago, in August, 1909. The Supreme Court comprises of one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight Courts with a total membership in the United States of two hundred and forty-six thousand four hundred and ninety-five mem- bers.


The Grand Court of California was instituted on November the 20th. 1889, and the officers for the year 1907 and 1908 are as follows: Junior Past Grand Chief Ranger, Chas. A. Root.
