ESCONDIDO.
The largest interior town in San Diego county and one of the most prosperous. It is located at the end of the Escondido branch of the Southern California rail- road, 21 miles east of Oceanside ; 35 miles north of San Diego, but 61 miles distant by rail. The development of water for irrigation purposes, which is now going on, has put new life in the entire valley, and much building and improving is going on. Almost all branches of business, except the saloon, are represented, and church and school privileges are the best. · Escondido has a fine hotel and many substantial buildings.

Is a growing agricultural and horticultural center of a fine belt of country lying between the Temecula and San Luis Rey rivers. It is 20 miles north of Ocean- side, 60 miles from San Diego and 122 miles from Los Angeles. Fallbrook is located in the frostless citrus belt of San Diego county, 10 to 20 miles from the ocean, free from heavy winds. Is a very picturesque and healthful location.
