Commencing at the bay on the west, the streets running north and south are Atlantic, Caifornia, Arctic, India, Columbia, State Union, Front and First, to Forty-second, inclusive.
The streets running north and south, north of Fir and west of Front, are: Albatross, beginning at Fir; Brant, beginning at Hawthorn; Curlew be- ginning at Juniper; Dove, beginning at Nutmeg; Eagle, beginning at Palm; Falcon, beginning at Quince; Goldfinch, beginning at Redwood; Hawk, beginning at Spruce; Ibis, be- ginning at Thorn; Jackdaw and Kite, beginning at Upas, and Lark, begin- ning between Upas and Sacramento, and ending between Sacramento and California.
The streets running north and south from the bay, beginning with Sixth to Tenth, inclusive, are continued north from the north boundary of the City Park. Beginning with Eleventh street at N street, the streets running north and south to Twenty-eighth street, inclusive, stop at the south line of the City Park. Twenty-eighth street extends south of N street to the bay.
Commencing at the bay on the south the streets running east and west are named after the letters of the alphabet. North of University avenue, beginning at Tenth street to the east, the streets running north and south, are: Ver- mont, Cleveland avenue, Yale, Uni- versity Boulevard, Center, Park Bou- levard, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Ari- zona, California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri.
Beginning at the north line of the City Park at Tenth street, the streets run- ning east and west to Briant avenue (with the exceptions noted) extend- ing as far north as University avenue, are: Park avenue, Myrtle, Laurel Cypress, Oak, (ends at Park Boule- vard), Olve, Essex (ends at Maine street), and University avenue.
Beginning at Briant avenue on the north line of the City Park, and ex- tending east to Pemberton, and north to University
avenue, are: Coe, Dwight, George, Wightman, and Uni- versity avenue.
Beginning at Pemberton avenue on the north line of the City Park, and ex- tending east to Robinson evenue, and north to University avenue, the streets running east and west, are: ยท Seventh, Sixth, Fifth, Fourth, Thira, Second, First and University avenue. Beginning at University avenue and Tenth streets, Cleveland, Hendricks, Grant, Hayes and Johnson avenues commence on Tenth, north of Univer- sity and run eastward to Lincoln and Buchanan avenues.
Blaine avenue begins at Cleveland and runs southeast to University avenue.
Lincoln avenue begins at Tenth street and runs southeast to Park Boule- vard.
Tyler avenue begins at Maryland and runs east to Campus avenue.
Van Buren avenue is next north and parallel to Tyler avenue, between the same points.
The avenues running east and west north of University avenue, and east of Park Boulevard, as far north as El Cajon avenue, are Taylor, Polk, Harrison and El Cajon.
North of El Cajon avenue the east and west streets are: Jackson, Monroe, Madison and Adams.
East of the City Park and north of A street, the east and west streets are: Harvard, Dartmouth, Amherst, Sea- man, Choate, Van Ness, North, Wat- kins, Horton, Biddle, Union, Tufts, Oberlin.
The north and south streets are: Park, Bay, Cliff, Dale, Ella, Fern, Grove, Hyde and Ida.
South of N street, beginning with the bay shore the avenues running south- easterly and northwesterly, parallel with the water front, from N street, to South Twenty-sixth street, are: Railroad avenue, Pierce avenue,

Beginning at the bay front, one-half a block southeast of the junction of Tenth and N streets, running north- east and southwest, intersecting the last above named avenues, are: South Eighteenth to South Twenty-

Main street begins at the junction of N and Eleventh and runs to the south city limits.

Houses are numbered from west to east and from south to north. On the streets running from west to east there are 48 numbers to each block, or one number to every eight and one-third feet.
