East San Diego, a prosperous and progressive city of 12,000 inhabitants, is situated four miles in a direct line from the center of San Diego, on a level mesa or table lands, at an altitude of 400 feet above the ocean level. It is noted for its splendid climate and healthy conditions. Located as it is inland, free from the fogs or winds, it has the dry atmosphere conditions to make it the ideal residential place to live in. The East San Diego car number 7 runs every five minutes from the Santa Fe depot, San Diego, throughout the city of East San Diego. During the past three years the city has more than doubled its population and, from all indications, it will do the same in the next five years.
No city in California has had such a rapid growth, according to its size, as East San Diego. Our building permits, gas and water installations will show our progress and growth. Nine hundred and ninety-four building permits amounting to $879,640.00 were issued in 1922, 430 water connections, 434 gas connections, and 185 electric light connections installed in 1922, which shows our building activities are still increasing.
A Carnegie Library, in its own large building, is maintained, with full equip- ment.
A new municipal camp grounds, under control of a superintendent, with water, electricity, baths, and toilets, has been completed, in a good location, and is free to all. We invite you to come and stay with us.
A new sewer sytem has just been completed, and a new water sytem, large enough for a city of 25,000 is being installed.
Chollas Wireless Station, the largest in the United States, is one of our most prominent points of interest.
Churches of all denominations with large congregations go to make up a good moral and religious condition and modern and finely constructed schools that are so necessary in a home city. Homes and home-sites can still be purchased at rea- sonable prices.
