THE PARAGON STOVE
AT THE PAVILION.
On one of the tables in the lower hall, William Friel, of San Francisco, exhibits and keeps in constant operation a va- riety of patterns of the " Paragon Vapor Stove " performing the various culinary operations of boiling, baking, etc., in the most perfect manner. The material used FRELE in these stoves is the light spirit product of petro- PARA leum known as naphtha ; and Mr. Friel claims not only to have secured in this stove the greatest econo- my of consumption, with the most perfect heating effect, but also an entire freedom from danger of ex- plosion. In the stoves of this character in former use there were too many points to be regulated, faucets to be turned, kept from leak- ing, etc .; and moreover, from their iniperfect combustion there was gen- erally an offensive smell of escaping gasses attending their use. In the " Paragon " all this has been reme- died-there is but one faucet, and the arrangement of the burner is such that all gasses generated must be con- sumed. The peculiarity of this burner is that the flame is thrown out from two sides of the gas generator, which is surrounded by a small hexagonal cup or basin, upon the sides of which the two flames spread until they meet, and form a complete cup of flame, in which all the combustible matter is necessarily consumed. The exceed- ingly compact form and freedom from most of the annoyances atttending the use of others, renders this stove a very desirable article where cleanliness and economy of room is desirable. The best evidence of their merit, however, is the rapidity with which they are growing into favor and coming into general use. They are made with one, two or three burners, according to the heating capacity required .- Sacra- mento Record.
SACRAMENTO, Sept. 29, 1874.
This is to certify, that at the STATE FAIR of California, for the year 1874, WILLIAM FREIL was awarded the FIRST premium for his valuable invention, the PARAGON VAPOR STOVE BURNER.
