BOULDER HIGH SCHOOL 1956 CLASS REUNION

PREFACE
This Bi-Decade Report has been compiled in order to bring you up-to-date on as many members of the Boulder High Class of '56 as possible.
The Committee is grateful to all who responded to our question- naire regarding their activities of the past 20 years .
Those who did not respond are listed separately at the end of the Report. The addresses are the most current ones known by the Committee. Those questionnaires received too late for inclusion in alphabetical order are also found in the back of the Report .
We hope this list of former classmates will prove interesting and useful. Thanks again to all who cooperated in providing the enclosed information.

We have a 1927 Super Six Essex (car). We go on tours & belong to a club. I have 10 nieces and 2 nephews. In Oct. 1965 I started working at Ball Brothers Research Co., Boulder. I was there 92 yrs then was laid off and now I work for Beech Aircraft Co., Boulder. Have been there 1 year so far. My husband works for Johnson's Publishing Co. , Boulder as a truck driver (not interstate) ."

"Domestic Engineer" is what Joan lists as her occupation. Chuck is employed by The Broker restaurants in Denver. "Right after graduation, I worked in the C. U. Resident Halls office as a secretary. Chuck & I were married in May 1957. Chuck went into the Army (1958-60) so we did some Army base hopping (Ft. Polk, Louisiana and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina). We both finally saw an 'ocean.' Traveled and did a lot of sightseeing of the East Coast states. Upon our return to Boulder, I worked as a cashier at Ideal Market for 7 years, until the birth of our first daughter in 1965. Our second daughter arrived in 1967. I have
been fortunate to be able to stay home and be 'Mother & Housewife' since our two little girls were born. I find there is 'never a dull moment' raising children and keep quite a busy schedule with their activities and ours. We have had some great trips to Lake Tahoe; Reno, Nevada; Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Six Flags Over Texas in Dallas; Salt Lake City. Chuck & I bowl in a couple of leagues, and love to entertain friends. This is a rather uneventful 'biography', but to sum it up - 'It's been a fast and happy twenty years !! "

In 1967 I completed my apprenticeship and became an electrician. We moved to Longmont for two years but got homesick and moved back to Boulder in 1974."

Dan went to work in the Colo. Univ. Residence Halls, later Scott was born, I began tutoring. I'm still tutoring and Dan is still with C. U. as the Housing Director ."

Don picked our wedding date: February 29, 1968. Consequently, we only have an anniversary every 4 years. We have a little boy who is all boy and is now going through I . Q. tests as he is above average intelligence - he is also quite large for his age: 4'3" and weight is 70 pounds - as you may recall, I was always quite 'big' too !!!!. During the past 32 years I have had major surgery 6 times and now seem to be in perfect health. Besides my husband and son about the only other outstanding thing that has happened to me is the fact that I was the first woman to ever work in an Automobile Dealership Service Department - I was called "Miss Fordland" and I wore a red uniform and did Public Relations work. Right now, my husband and I are in the process of trying to either buy or set up our own automobile parts house - we hope to be in the new business before summer is over."

Being married to a very civic-minded and active person and having children who seem to be involved in every- thing, I sometimes think all I do is housework, grass cutting, pool cleaning, etc. but I really do get out once in a while. My #1 project is weekly volunteer work in Radiation Therapy at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology which is part of the Barnes Hospital Complex and Washington University Medical School. I have also been a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, served on the P.T.A. board, sang in the church choir and civic chorus, served as City Chairman for the American Cancer Society, been involved in several political campaigns, do special projects for the Women's Association of the St. Louis Symphony Society and the St. Louis Zoo Association (i.e. Delta Queen Trips, Gypsy Caravan, Zoofairi) and tutor math and social studies at East Ladue Jr. High. Although we seldom get to Boulder, we do get to Colorado at least once most every year. Usually to ski! "

I left the field of engineering in 1966 and became Asst. Admin. of a United Methodist Home for the Aged in Lebanon, Ohio. In 1968 I took advantage of a Federally supported training program and received a Masters degree in Studies in Aging from North Texas State University in 1970. Following one year with the American Hospital Association in Chicago, we moved to Oakland, Ca. where I was administrator of a 300 resident retirement residence for two years. We returned to the Chicago area three years ago where I have coordinated the construction and remodeling of a 183 bed nursing home and the planning for another 48 bed wing.

"I left Boulder and moved to McCook, Nebr. at the end of our junior year . I graduated from McCook High School, then went one year to Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa. In the meantime my parents moved to Atlantic, Iowa, I came here and went to work at the telephone office. I met and married Norman Templeman, a life-long resident, October 9, 1958. After some moving we ended up on his family farm in 1968. Norman is an Ironworker in Omaha (60 miles from here, 5 days a week) plus he farms 120 acres and raises feeder-pigs. Five years ago we built a new home, 10 miles from Atlantic, but only 4 mile from I-80. Having grown up in town, farm living was quite a change for me, and now nothing could get me to move to town. As a family we all enjoy gardening together, especially when we can walk to the garden and have fresh vegetables for a meal. Three years ago we started snowmobiling, and now it is a family hobby, including going to the International Races in Minnesota, plus a week vacation in the Colorado mountains around Granby the last of February." Sherry also sews and does crewel work.
