1686 Nov. 24, The testimony of John Sturges, Sen., Aged abt. 62 yrs. testifieth yt I coming into my sonn Joseph house the last Lecture day in Fairfield after lecture I met with Joseph Middlebrooke, Sen., now deceased, there I satt down by him, he seemed to be very well & cherfull & was glad of those things Joseph brought him, he setting down between my daughter and I he be- gan to tell us he should not live long & after his death he feared saml. Wilson would ronge his son Middlebrook by reason of a riting he had signed & given Saml. Wilson & father said yt saml. Wilson should have no more of his estate but what he gott by that deed of gift he had made him & he said it was his mind & will yt his son Middlebrook should have all nis estate at his death, he had many more words about it but this was the substance of what he said, this saying of his was but a few hours before he fel downe in the street going home as I was informed. Mary Sturges testefyeth fully to the premises.
