NEW HAVEN BURIAL GROUND.

This Beautiful cemetry was laid out in the year 1796, under the superintendence of Hon. James Hillhouse. It then comprised only about six acres, but it has since then been enlarged to its present area of eighteen acres. The ground is cheifly divided into family lots each 18 feet in width by 30 in length ; but contains also a section of nearly three acres in extent, provided at the cost of the City for a Public Burial Place. Within three years past, extensive improvements have been made in this cemetry. It has been surrounded on all sides, except the front by a sub- stantial and elegant wall of free stone ;- a lofty iron fence has been erected on the front; while within, the borders and alleys have been liberally ornamented with a large variety of trees and shrubs. The number of family lots is about 750, most of which have been disposed of, yet with proper management, the grounds may accommo- date the City for many years.

There are in town, four other Places of Burial; viz. one each in Westville and Fair Haven ; one around the Cath- olic Church, ane one at the Alms House.

" A Better Furnace al a less Price."

LRER'S

Improved Patent Hot Air Furnace, For heating Dwelling Houses, Churches, Public Buildings, &c.

HAVING for a year past been engaged in the erection of Fox's Patent Furnace, some improvements have been sug- gested to my mind which I am happy to announce that I have perfected, and for which I have obtained Letters Patent. I can now offer to the public a Furnace possess- ing all the desirable qualities of Fox's, with the addition of being more simple in its arrangement, and more eco- nomical, besides being afforded at a less price. It is not necessary to go into detail respecting the Furnace, but will say that I am kindly permitted by James Brewster, Esq. to refer to him in relation to it, as he has had one of them in successful operation for some time past, and given it his decided preference over any other that he has seen.

I am also permitted to refer to Mr. Jonathan Hiller, who is well known in this community as having an intimate knowledge of Hot Air Furnaces, founded on THIRTEEN YEAR's experience, as he thinks this far superior to any that he has examined.

A few of Fox's furnaces remaining on hand, which will be put up for those who choose them.

To those favoring me with a call I shall be happy to show the supe- riority of arrangement and mode of operation of the Furnace, even if their object is only to gratify curiosity. Please call and see at 134 Chapel st. GEO. WALKER.

TOXIS Improved Patent Hot Air Furnace,

For heating Dwelling Houses, Churches, Public Buildings, &c. THE subscriber having obtained the exclusive right for vending the above Furnaces in New Haven Co. can confidently recommend them to the public from the high reputation they have gained the past few years where they have been in successful operation, heating the Cap- itol and other public Buildings at the city of Washington, also at Utica, Boston, Hartford, and New Haven, and many other places ; in which time they have been tested by the most competent judges, and for con- venience, comfort and economy, perfect safety at all times, the little attention that it requires, the uniform and equable temperature that it keeps up in all parts of the house, the summer like atmosphere that it gives out in the severest winter's day, are excellencies that render it in all respects superior to any other in use.

The subscriber has been favored with the following certificates :

During the past winter I have warmed my house with one of Fox's Patent Cast Iron Furnaces. I am much pleased with the article, be- canse when well managed it saves a vast amount of trouble in a family, brings no dust, dirt, smoke or gas into the house-furnishes a dense medium of fresh and pure air throughout, with an equable temperature, rendering even the floors warm, and requires a less amount of fuel than would be necessary to warm so much space in any other mode.

The two Furnaces of the same kind in the Centre Church have been under my supervision for the year since they were built. They have given entire satisfaction, affording an abundance of heat even in the coldest weather, and consuming no more fuel than we ordinarily used in our old stoves. CHARLES ROBINSON.

The subscribers have used Fox's Patent Furnaces, and concur fully in the views of Mr. Robinson as to their utility. T. Sherman, Edward Strong, Nathl. Bacon, Nathl. A. Bacon, Thomas L. Chester.
