france

The severe illness (which has been protracted until this time) of our Mr. Wy. R. HANLEITER. the founder and original pro- prietor of this Annual, just as he had commenced the prepara- tion of matter for it, left the work to be performed by inexpe- rienced hands, and has delayed the publication much beyond the period at first contemplated. This explanation is made in justice alike to that gentleman and ourselves, and we trust it will be satisfactory to our patrons.

The volume will, nevertheless, be found to contain much useful general information. We refer, with especial pleasure, to the articles on " Atlanta," our " Public Schools," and the " Western and Atlantic Railroad."
