ATLANTA'S FUTURE EXCEEDINGLY BRIGHT.
The wonderful developments in the past year or two has been phenomenal. Atlanta has today the finest street railway system to be found in any city. The Whitehall street viaduct has made a wonder- ful change in this thoroughfare. The new Union passenger station,
for which the last legislature appropriated half a million dollars, is soon to be erected. A bill appropriating half a million dollars for improvements and additions to the Atlanta Postoffice and Custom House has just been passed in the United States Senate, through the indomitable perseverance, untiring energy and sleepless enter- rprise of Senator A. S. Clay, Hon. L. F. Livingston and Major Wil- liam H. Smyth. The million dollar Empire building, the Federal Prison, the new Courthouse Annex, the Carnegie Library recently completed, with such structures as the Century building, Peters build- ing, the palatial Piedmont Hotel, now towering in the clouds, besides gigantic industries like Swift & Company and Armour & Company fertilizer plants, and Southern Rug & Carpet Mills, which have been recently put in operation, and scores of others, mention of which space forbids.
The publishers return thanks for the interest manifested by the majority of the business men of the city in their behalf, and for the liberal financial encouragement extended them in their labori- ous work. In conclusion we renew our promise to make each suc- ceeding issue more worthy of commendation and patronage.
Very Respectfully,
JANUARY, 1902.
THOMAS J. MALONEY, Mgr.
