COURTS.


United States Court of the South- ern District of Iowa-The United States is divided into nine judicial circuits, in each of which a circuit court is held for each district within each circuit. The act of congress approved April 10, 1869, provides as follows: "The circuit court in each circuit shall be held by the justice of the supreme court alloted to the cir cuit, or by the district judge of the district sitting alone, or by the jus- tice of the supreme court and circuit judge sitting together, in which case tne justice of the supreme court shall preside, or in the absence of either of them, by the other ( who shall pre side) and the district judge.
