INTRODUCTORY.
We present herewith the third annual edition of our Boise City & Ada County Directory. The usual care has been devoted to the collection and compilation of names and other information contained herein, and we be- lieve this volume will be accorded the same measure of approval as its predecessors. With every facility for the prompt and accurate accomplish- ment of such a task, aided by a system perfected by long years of study and experience, and the assistance of a competent staff, makes it possible for us to produce a directory that will compare in every respect with works of similar character in the larger metropolitan cities.
The same general arrangement has been carried out in this work as in our previous editions. A revised and up-to-date Street Guide of Boise will be found on pages 15 to 18: pages 19 to 38 contain a full and complete roster of the City. County and State Officers, United States Officers lo- cated in Boise; Post Office Department, banks and bankers, churches, clubs and societies, colleges and schools, libraries, secret and benevolent organizations, etc., etc. Following this (pages 39 to 308) is the alphabetical list of names of all the residents, business and professional men, corpora- tions, etc., located in Boise. Directories of the towns of Highland, Hurt, Meridian, Orchard and Star will be found on pages 309 to 311. A list of the land owners of Ada County begins on page 312 and ends on page 345. Pages 346 to 388 are devoted to a classified business directory, in which all lines of business and the professions are listed under appropriate headings.
This directory contains by actual count 6255 names (not including the names of firms, corporations, death or removal notices). This is an increase of 808 names over the number contained in our last directory; and using the lowest multiple in vogue in Western cities, (21/4), we estimate the present population of Boise-including South Boise and the immediate suburbs-to be 14,074.
We are pleased to note the continued and increasing prosperity of Boise and the rapid growth of its commercial interests. This has been especially noticeable during the past three or four years. The advancement of the city during that time is evidenced by the increased number of names in the City Directory.
A complete directory library, containing directories of all the cities of the United States and Canada, as well as Gazetteers of all the states and territories. is maintained in connection with this publication for free public reference. in the rooms of the Carnegie Public Library, Washington cor 8th Streets.
Thanking our patrons for courtesies extended our representatives while gathering data and soliciting patronage on this publication, and believing that our work will be found most complete in every department, we remain
Respectfully,
R. 1 .. Polk, President and Treas. W. P. Cooper, Sec'y and Mgr. T. F. Smith, Vice-Pres.
