INTRODUCTORY
2045404
Franks Peoria Directory Co.'s Volume XXIX for 1910-1911 is herewith presented.
It contains 47,456 names.
For twenty-nine (29) years we have served the ever critical public of the City of Peoria to the best of our ability.
We have made a careful and close canvass, and the results thus obtained will be found on page five.
No special new features have been added as we believe and know that the Franks Peoria City Directory, which is on file in the libraries of every legiti- mate directory publisher in the United States and Canada is as complete a publication in scope of information and mechanical workmanship as can be produced.
On our map we have made the latest changes in regard to the extended city limit lines, ward boundaries and renaming of streets.
We wish to state that through the courtesy of the City Officials we are enabled to publish the new proposed Fire Alarm Stations, to be found on . page 1417.
On page four appears the newly organized "Peoria Association of Com- merce," with list of officers, and stating the leading feature of the Association as furnished by their president, Mr. Douglas H. Bethard.
One object in view of the Association is to patronize "Home Industry," and we can truthfully say the Franks Peoria City Directory is a home product from cover to cover.
To those who have given us their patronage, we thank you.
To those who have been innocently trapped into thinking that they had given their support to the Franks Peoria Directory Co. we can assure that they may look to us for any assistance needed, if it is within reach of the publishers and the Association of American Directory Publishers, of which we are members, to obtain it.
To those who have not given us their support, we bear no malice, but we are sure they will assist us in our next issue.
Very Respectfully,
FRANKS PEORIA DIRECTORY CO.
February, 1911.

EXPLANATORY
GREATER PEORIA (City of Peoria, Averyville, Peoria Heights, South Peoria, Bartonville and East Peoria)-The new City Directory contains 47,456 names, and by multiplying the amount of names by 21/4, the standard multiplier adopted by the Association of American Directory Publishers (of which we are members) an organization composed of all "legitimate" directory publishers in the United States and Canada, we find that "Greater Peoria" can safely be credited with a population of 106,776.
CITY OF PEORIA-The same rule cannot be applied to the City of Peoria, as we have no way of telling the exact amount of names obtained, con- fining ourselves strictly to the limit lines, but we believe to be still more con- servative by basing our figures on the United States Census, taken in 1900.
The 1900 City Directory contained 33,732 names, equal to a population of 56,100 (United States Census 1900). Now, then, if 33,732 is equal to a popula- tion of 56,100, what will it be figured the same way, with 47.456 names in the 1910-11 City Directory ?
We find the result is 78,924.
