Introductory

1559676

In presenting this work to the public, I desire to express my appreciation of the courtesy, consideration and encouragement accorded my efforts. Without the advertising patronage which it received, the publication of the book would not have been possible. The public spiritedness which actuated the advertis- . ers is indicative of business enterprise which presages success.

It has been my ambition. in this instance, to present to the people of Princeton, an exact, convenient, and complete auxili- ary to business and social interests. To achieve this, no ex- pense has been spared, no work undone, no care unexercised to make it satisfactory in the minutest details.

Princeton's pilgrim band of well nigh three quarters of a century agone, has, by kinship and adoption, increased to 3.715 souls. In company with its one colony church, sixteen houses of worship throw open their doors each Sabbath within the city's borders. Its single seat of learning has multiplied into three flourishing ward schools, a Township High School, and a Business College, while its public library, its recently estab- lished Sanitarium, its city waterworks and electric light plant and its numerous organizations, social and philanthropic, attest a desire on the part of its citizens to keep pace with the advance of effective effort and minister more and more fully to the ne- cessities mental, physical and civic of those with whom they have to do. That this Directory may be accorded the general service for which such a work is intended and serve its day and generation acceptably is the sincere desire of

MINNIE AGNES PHELPS.

PRINCETON CITY DIRECTORY.

DO NOT LEND YOUR DIRECTORY.

It cost you money. Your next door neighbor is as well able to buy a directory as you are ; his subscription was solicited, but he had "no use for a directory." You will find he has use for yours, and when you need it most the chances are you will have to go to him to get it back. We find out on every canvass that one of the regular questions put to us is, "Did Mr. subscribe for a book? he is always borrowing ours;" but the gentle- man doesn't have any more use for a directory than a balloon when it comes to paying for one. Every busi- ness and professional office needs a city directory and should have one .. People who would be ashamed to bor- row your daily paper think they have a right to borrow your directory.

Don't Lend It.
