THE UNION ARMY.

Like some stupendous elm tree The Union army stands; Its branches wave o'er many a grave- The graves that link two lands. It spreadeth North, it spreadeth South, It spreadeth East and West; It hangs o'er the cannon's silent mouth, Where a bird might build her nest.

But the old limbs of this monarch Are dropping day by day; By battles scarred, and by Time's scythe marred, They are falling fast away. The boughs that bore us the fruit of peace, That sheltered us thro' war's night, From the grand old tree are breaking free And dying in our sight .

Ohio Veteran Association of Illinois.

The object of this organization is to obtain a roster of Ohio Veterans residing in Illinois, to preserve and strengthen those kind and fraternal feelings which should bind us to- gether as Comrades of the Great State of Ohio.

The membership consists of honorably dis- charged Soldiers, Sailors and Marines of the Army and Navy from Ohio during the War of 1861-1865 now residents of the State of Illinois.

The membership fee is 50 cents and the annual dues 25 cents. The object is to pay for the Roster and the necessary printing, postage and incidental expenses of the association. All members paying the miem - bership fee are entitled to a copy of the Roster free, to others it will be 25 cents.

This organization was formed at Blooming- ton, December 10 and 11, 1889. The first Annual Reunion was held in Springfield, December 2 and 3, 1890. The Reunion for the year 1891 will be held at Galesburg, De- eember 18 and 19. At the Springfield Reunion Miss Pearl Pinckard of Monticello, a daughter of a veteran, was elected the daughter of the Association.

WE TELL THE TRUTH

When we say the cheapest and best way for a soldier to as certain what he is entitled to under the laws and complex Departmental decisions, is to tell the facts of his service to some attorney who, from long and honorable practice in the war claim business, and whose army service has gained the respect of his comrades.

OHIO SOLDIERS

As well as others, will we believe, bear us out in the state- ment that our uninterrupted success is wholly attributed to the fact that we never deceive them, and that we leave noth- ing undone that will contribute to the favorable adjudication of any claim given us to prosecute.

TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS

Practice has made our business methods known to ex soldiers all over the country, and to them we refer. From the loca tion of our offices we are both "local" attorneys and "Wash- ington" attorneys, and a comrade who applies at one of our Western offices, furnishing us with all the facts in his case, in response to questioning blanks sent him, is at once put in direct connection with the Departments at Washington, giv- ing to his claim the advantages possessed only by an attorney located at the National Capital.

Why not give us a trial?
