Severed active connection with that firm in 1887, en- gaging in the real estate business, and in 1889 built the Calumet Distilling Co.'s distillery; sold that to the trust and organized Monarch Brewing Co .; consolidated that in United Brew- eries Co., of which is now head as chairman of the board.
