Introductory
T HE twentieth biennial Directory of the cities of New Albany and Jeffersonville is herewith presented to the public
The New Albany Directory' contains 13,501 names. Using two as a multiplier, the smallest figure used by any member of the Association of American Directory Publishers. ,New Albany, including Silver Grove, Silver Hills and Lower Albany, has a population of 27.002.
The Jeffers mville Directory, embracing Port Fulton, Clark -- ville, Howard Park and Claysburg, contains 8,058 names, indicating a population of 16,116:
Many improvement are noted in sboth cities since our last issue. The most notable being the new double-track steel bridge of the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad Company over the Ohio River, between New Albany and Louisville, and costing more than two million dollars.
New Albany is making elaborate preparations to commemorate the centennary of its birth, which will be celebrated October 12 to 16, and mark> one hundred years of continued progress.
The territory north of and between the cities of Jeffersonville and New Albany is beautifully situated. Several sub-divisions have been laid out and a number of substantial homes have been erected. The cars of the Louisville & Southern Indiana Traction Company pass through this section every half hour, making it one of the most desirable suburban sections, surrounding the Falls Cities.
