INTRODUCTION

1

CITY DIRECTORY should consist of a correct compilation of the names, addresses, and occupations of citizens. Besides such matter properly arranged, it is usual to connect advertising therewith, it being only a fuller development of the information given concerning individuals, firms, and corporations.

Competent and efficient assistants have been employed, and no expense deemed necessary for success has been withheld.

The' Directory proper in the. following pages, the result of an exhaustive canvass reveals 6,165 names. Deducting the usual 10 per cent. for firm names, there remains the number 5,549 which being multiplied by 3 gives as an approsi- mate estimate of Logansport, 16,647. , In addition to the regular City Directory there will be found on the pink paper in the back of the book a complete directory of Cass County.' I give the number of acres, value of personalty owned by each person and his post-office address. It is subdivided into townships, and by reference to the index no trouble will be experienced in finding any resident of the County.

I had the County Directory printed on pink paper in order that it might be more easily distinguished. I will return and issue a second edition in 1889-90.

I take this opportunity of returning thanks to my many patrons for their liberal assistance. To the public and my patrons I herewith submit my completed task of a Logansport and Cass County Directory for 1887-8 with the hope that it will prove meritorious and acceptable.

F. J. SUTTON.
