COURTS. -
United States Court of the District of In- diana-The United States is divided into nine Judicial Circuits, in each of which a Circuit Court is held for each district within each circuit. The. act of Con- gress approved April 10, 1869, provided as follows: "The Circuit Courts in each - circuit shall be held by the Justice of the Supreme Court allotted to the cir- cuit, or by the Circuit Judge of the cir- cuit, or by the District Judge of the dis- trict, sitting alone, or by the Justice of the Supreme Court and Circuit Judge sitting together, in which case the Jus- tice of the Supreme Court shall preside, or in the absence of either of them, by the other (who shall preside), and the District Judge." The State of Indiana comprises one Judicial District. The courts for the district are held at Indian- apolss, New Albany, Evansville and Ft. Wayne. The district is attached to the Seventh Judicial Circuit, which com- prises the States of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.
