To che Ladies of the Hebrew Benevolent Society.
Ladies;
Although I have no report to make as to my delegate-ship to cincinnati since there was no Ladies organization there represent- ing benevolent institutions, yet I feel that a report of the work done by the Lady delegates to the convention. is due you.
It seems that the sisterhood organization of the different temples, all those congregations who belong to the Union of American Hebrew Congregation were represented and meetings were held almost daily touching upon the object and aime of the sisterhood. As mich as I could learn the philanthropic part was not so much discussed 88 the religious part for which the sisterhood stands. Most overy con- gregation of Any She was ToDeARANted by A committee of their To- spective sisterhood organization.
The main object of this sisterhood seems to do work for the congregation. The prevailing idea is to foster and aid the congregation in all its endeavors to promote its welfare, to secure good attendance to Divine services, and to aid the Sabbath School, in fact the battle cry "Back to the Synagogue" - Back to Judaism, was very prevalent at all meetings.
This sisterhood also gives financial aid for improvements to be made when necessary both in Temple and Sabbath Schools. It. also favors Ladies to be on the Sabbath School board and particularly lays stress upon the observance of the different festivals for the children both on Chamikah - Purim and. Pesach.
It was a wonderful meeting both in point of humber and. enthusiasm. It is claimed there was 500 Lady Delegates present and a great deal of work was accomplished.
Thanking you for the appointment as delegate.
Yours,
C
