STREET AND AVENUE GUIDE

THE NOTATION OF LOCATIONS

Logansport is numbered on the Philadelphia plan, which is the most approved of modern conveniences for the notation of locations Each block, by this system, constitutes a hundred numbers; even numbers will be found on the north and east side of the streets, odd numbers on the south and west side: thus the s e cor 4th and Market would be numbered 401 and the doors going east 403, 405, etc, until

34

:

MISCELLANEOUS.

the intersection of 5th street be reached, then in like manner from the east side of 5th street, the numbers would be 501, 503, 505, etc; to 6th street By this means, with any given number, we can tell just how many blocks that number can be found from the initial of enumeration

First street is the basis of numbering from west to east between the rivers High street is the basis of numbering from north to south ยท between the rivers Eel river is the basis of numbering from south to north on the North Side North Sixth, the continuation of Sixth north of Fel River, is the basis of numbering on the North Side, east to corporation line and west to Brown

Brown is basis of numbering on the West Side

Front is the basis of numbering from south to north on the West Side until Brown is reached, when the numbers begin at Wabash River
