Decatur Catholic, which had been a member of the IHSAA since 1942, won its first an only sectional. Adams Central also won a sectional this year at Portland. This was Bob Boyle's second and last season as head coach. Boyle was a Huntington Catholic and Defiance College grad. The Commodores upset a fine Ossian team in the sectional finals. Ossian was 21-2 before losing to the Commodores.
