MORRISON, Mrs. Andrew J. aged 83-4-9 died at five o'clock, Tues- day morning at the home in Fort Wayne of her-daughter, Mrs. J.S.Gregg. (wife of Dr. Gregg). She was born in 1819 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. In 18-1 roved with her parents to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where she married then located in Colum- bis City, Indiana. He operated and owned a drygoods business. He died several years ago. Her Cmaiden ... name was Sarah Ann. Edwards . She was buried in the Greenhill Cemetery. Charles Edwards of Columbis City was a brother. Her children were: Mrs. Jennie Anderson of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Elizabeth Gregg of Fort wayne and Christopher morrison of Bluffton, Arkansas. HIVELY, Lewis, age 13 years, son of N.H. Hively, died at 3.00 A.M. Friday of tuberculosis. Funeral on Sunday with burial in. the Egolf Cemetery in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County Indiana.
TAUPERT, JOHN A. was born on 25 July 1829 in Neubausen, Germ- any .. was aged. 7 years. when he came to the U.S. and located near Waynesburg, Ohio until 1838. He married Miss Margaret Kurtz in: 1852 and came to Columbia City, Indiana in 1854. His remains were brought to Columbia City from Standish, Mich. by these daughters and their husbands: hrs. W.A.Clugston, Mrs. C. E. Lillich and Mrs .. Sam Pierson. His wife died 12 years ยท ago. Tro sons, John C. and Robert J. live in Oklahoma and New Mexico, respectively ..

BERRY, Mrs. Emmett C. was stricken and died Friday evening. .. She had been attending the milking and was found by her hus- band. where she had fallen ... She was aged 60 years. Five child- ren: John, Carl, Wirs. George Knisely, Mrs. J.A. Mullet and Clema survived her. Burial was in the Stough Cemetery in Thorncreek. Township, Whitley County, Indiana near which place was her farm home.

LINER, Samuel A. , a pioneer died Thursday night at 11.25 o'clock at the home of a step-daughter, Mrs. Martha E. Gay- lord, East Ellsworth Street, Columbia City, Indiana. He was aged 80-3-3. He was born in New York State and was eleven years old when his parent moved to whitley County, Indiana. He helped the surveyors plat the town of Columbia City by carrying chains. He learned to speak the Indian language and do their war dance. He was buried in the Masonic Cemes tery. In April 1863 he married 2nd, Mrs. Lucy Chapman who bore him Il children. Of this number 4 survived him, namely: Mrs. Adamson of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Cliffcummins of Marion, . Indiana; Mrs. Hown who resided west of town and mrs. Silas Goodrich at Loon Lake.

PARKINSON, George F. aged 81-10-14 died Friday noon at his home on North Chauncey Street, Columbia City, Indiana. He was born in Perry County, Chio on 12 August 1820 where he married Sarah Foster. They came to Whitley County in 1850. He had sold his farm in Thorncreek Township only two weeks. prior to his death. All four of his children living. ( Wednesday, issue dated 2 July . 1902)
SAPPINGTON, Jacob was born 20. March 1819- in Greene County, BE. At age 9 was on his own resources and from John Crosby at Waynesburg, Pa. learned the trade of- shoemaker. In October 1836 went with' a group from Washington, Pa- to-Texas and . fought in a revolution there. He came- to- Indiana -- in. 1844 and settled on an Indian Reserve -- near- Zanesville. - In 1847. married Mary Butt and they had 15 children. In the- spring of 1848 moved to the Jackson farm situated east of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He lived in Allen County, Indiana for 36 years. In the Jpring of 1880 he came to Whitley County, Indiana to a place one and onehalf miles north of Larwill. his wife died in October, 1882 and on 20 March 1889 he married 2nd, Mrs. Elizabeth Hoaf. He died 27 June 1902 of paralysis. The fun- eral service was held in the M.E. Church in Larwill, . Indiana with the Rev. D.S. Jones officiating. His burial was in a
cemetery near his old home in Allen County, Indiana. He had united with the Methodist Church in 1857 and had served as a church-trustee." : A short resume of his service as a soldier in the regular army was given .. In the Spring of. 1837 moved to encamp near Texana and from that place to Camp Hatch. The army was there when a duel was. fought. by Gen .. Felix Houston and Gen. Sidney Johnson. He helped carry Johnson from the dueling ground. The commanding officers were: Gen. Houston, Col. Rogers and Major Gray. He was in Houston, Texas when the capitol was erected. For his service in the rebellion he was given a pension in the form of a bond from Texas which brought $96 interest per year.
GARRISON, Mrs. William (nee. Graves ) . died. 28. June 1902 of tuberculosis. She was born 23 May 1837- in Ohio and in the early 1840's came with her parents to Indiana. She died at 3.00 P.M. at her home located four miles northeast of Colum- bia City, Indiana. On 26 April 1856 married William Garrison. She was the mother of 3 sons and 5 daughters. Three of the daughters are dead. Her funeral service was held in Collins and burial was in the Garrison Cemetery near her home.

GARDNER, Neil died Thursday aged 44-9-29. He was born in Huntington County, Indiana on 18 September 1857. The funer - al cortage will leave the Nelson Gardner home for the Mil - ton Gardner home in Huntington County where the funeral ser- vice will be held. Burial in the Greenwood Cemetery. MALONEY, Patrick , aged 28 years, drowned on Monday in Blue Lake, Smith Township, Whitley County, Indiana. Only two months ago had married Maude Nickey, only daughter of- J.w. ' Nickey on whose farm he lived. He was a son of John Maloney. The funeral service was held at Ege, Indiana on Sunday. ( Issue of Wednesday, 30 July 1902)
WAY, George, aged 21 years, fell into a grain separator on the Matt Denner farm in Union Township, Whitley County, Ind. He was employed by Elijah Graves, thresher. He was carried to Arcola and placed on a train to Fort' Wayne. He died in the St. Joe Hospital. He was from Ashland, Chio and the body was sent there for burial.

DECKER, Levi aged about 76 years was buried from the home of T. E.Adams in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, Indiana. The grave was made in the Stough Cemetery. He was born in Delaware County, Ohio. Mrs. Matilda Lemmon, a sister lived in Warsaw, Indiana. He had no family. ( Issue dated Wednesday, 6 August 1902)

WILHELM, Jacob died in Union Township, Whitley County, Ind. aged 82-1-6. He was born on 25- July 1820 at Roseheim, Alsace, Germany but came to the U.S. about 1852. He served 3 years and ten months as a member of the 11th. Indiana- Batt. during the Civil war. His wife died two years ago. He left six children : George, John and Mrs. Mary DeWahl of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Mrs. Catherine Bentz of Decatur, Indiana; Joseph of Fort Scott, Kansas and Frank of Arcola, Indiana. He died at Frank's home. His funeral servive was held in the Arcola Catholic Church and burial was in the cemetery adjoining. ( wednesday issue, dated 27 August 1902)
GILLISPIE, Blanche died Friday night at the home of her par- ents, the Rev. Arthur M. and Mrs. Gillispie who lived 12 miles north of Ft Wayne, Indiana. Her funeral was held in the Saturn' Church in charge of the Rev. Edgar W.Allen. She had had typhoid fever.

ADAMS, John Quincy died at his home in Thorncreek Township at 11.00 o'clock P.M., Tuesday. He had been ill with lung trouble for two weeks. He was born in Ireland in November, 1826 to James Adams who was of Scotch descent. His boyhood was spent partly in New York and Ohio. He learned the trade of machinist. When 22 years of age he settled in Columbiana County, Ohio and was a farmer. Here on 28 September 1852 he married Christina Elliott, born 20 May 1827 in that county to- George and-Eliza- beth ( McDonald) Elliott. Upon moving to Whitley County, Ind. they settled first on 171 acres known as the Grable farm. They sold that land and bought 160 acres in Thorncreek Township to which he added until he owned 800 acres. Of this acreage 180 were cleared. In 1866 he was elected County Treasurer and re- elected in 1868. For two terms serves as ajustice- of the peace in Thorncreek Township and was a member of the Presbyterian
. Church. He had 6 sons of which number two are dead. J. W.Adams and A.A. Adams of Columbia City, Indiana; Charles and Frank E. Adams of McCuen, Tennessee; George and James McDomald Adams an deceased. He was buried in the masonic Cemetery ( Greenhill) in Columbia City, Indiana.

HOARD, John T. aged 62-7-2, died at 1.00 A.M. on Monday at the home of his son Charles in Washington Township, Whitley County, Indiana. He was born in Ohio on 4 March 1840. He served as a soldier in the Civil War with and Ohio Regiment. His wife died in 1885. The funeral was held in the Washington Center Church with the Rev. C. S. Parker of South whitley, Indiana officiating. . Burial, was in the South Whitley Cemetery. The following child- ren survived him: . Alice Hoard and Mrs. D.Allen of Sheldon, Ill .; Charles and Kellis Hoard of Washington Township and P. I.Hoard of Columbia City, Indiana.

BEESON, Mary A., wife of William J.Beeson, died Friday at 10.00 A.M. She was born near Tiffin, Ohio on 20 November 1838 and was aged 63-10-13. She came to Whitley County, Indiana with her parents in 1844. , She and William T. Beeson were married on 17 September 1863. She left three children : Henry F. Beeson, Mrs. Fred Ruckman and Mrs. J.E. BROWN, tirs. Daniel was buried in the South Park Cemetery in- stead of the Nolt Cemetery. The Rev. Ervin Fisher of the German Baptist Church at Denver, Indiana came with the re- mains and conducted a graveside service. Peter Brown , her gon from Wildwood, C. T. was present. Rebecca Brenner was born 25 August 1826 in the Province of Wurttemberg, Germany. She died at Denver, Indiana on 14 October 1802. when she was 4 years old her parents located in Stark County, Ohio but in a few years moved to Hancock County, Ohio. where Rebecca mar- ried Daniel Brown in October, 1847. The Browns came. to Whitley County, Indiana in 1848 and first lived on a farm now known as the A. B. Richardson homestead. In 1865 they
moved to Columbia City but after a few months wentto- a farm south of town where they lived until Daniel died in 1894. Eight of their nine children survived. her: L.D. of Selma, California; Alvin of Columbia City, Indiana; Mrs. Harriett Schaper of Mulvane, Kansas; Peter of wildwood, Oklahoma; Emma J. Knisely of Denver, Indiana; Ella B. Nash, John J. and Lewis Brown of Medford, Oregon.
CLAXTON, Elizabeth died 17 October 1902. She was born 8 January 1856 and married Richard Claxton in 1871. Four of her five children survived her. Her funeral was held in the Blue River Free Methodist Church with burial in the Blue River Cemetery. She was a member of the U. B.Church. Elder Comp conducted the funeral service.
HOWELL, Matilda Jane died on Friday at 2.00 A.m. She was born in Franklin County, Ohio on 12 February 1845. . On 12 November 1861 married E.C. Howell - and. soon after moved to Allen County where they lived for 20 years. For the past 18 years had lived in Columbia City, Indiana. She was survived by her hus- bend and the following children: Edwin and Fred Howell of Col- umbia City; Mrs. E.D. Pressler of Tipton, Indiana; hrs. Viana James of Toledo, Ohio. Three children are dead. The funeral service in charge of the Rev. I. W. Markley, was held in the Church of God with burial in the Nolt Cemetery.
GOBLE, Susan aged 26 years died of malarial fever, The funeral service was held in the washington Center Church, burial was in the South Whitley Cemetery. She was a daughter of Enos Goble of Washington Township, Whitley County, Indiana. ( Wednesday issue dated 12 November 1902)
HACKETT, William H. , son of Henry and Sarah, was born 12 March 1858 in Columbia City, Indiana; he died on 12 November 1902 at his home in Chicago, Illinois. He moved with his parents to Pierceton, Indiana in 1874 and to Chicago. in 1880 .. On 23 Feb. 1886 he married Miss Ella Laing who survived him along with a brother, 'George Hackett of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. James Wine of Pierceton, Indiana. The body was taken to Pierceton where the funeral service was held in the Presbyterian Church. He was buried in the Ryerson Cemetery.
GRADELESS, Albert aged 23 years was found hanging from a beam in the barn at his mother's home near the Hoops School in Thorncreek Township. The beam was only 8 feet from the floor. The funeral service was in the church at Fullers Corners with burial in the Concord Cemetery in Smith Township, Whitley County, Indiana. ( Wednesday issue dated 26. November 1902.
GRADELESS, Moses died Friday night at ten o'clock because of a stroke of apoplexy. He was born on 4 September 1820 in Fayette County, Ohio. He came to Thorncreek Township, whitley County, Indiana where his father, Nathaniel Gradeless bought 100 acres. His father died 28 May 1862 and his mother just nine days later He worked on the home farm until he was 19 years of age. In 1841 married Mary Smith, also a native of Fayette County, Ohio and they had five children. Mirs. Gradeless died on 27- January 1875a and on 9 September 1877, he married irs. Mary Morse, a native of New York .. He married 3rd, Mary Perry on 26 November 1891. The children : Josiah Gradeless was a member of Co.B, 74th Ind. Vol. Inf. and died in a hospital at Gallatin, Tenn. on 23 December 1862; ars. kary Ellen Vanderment of Kansas; irs. Clarissa Smith of mis- souri; Mrs. Rebecca Fisher of Oregon and mrs. martha E. Coverstone of Marion, Indiana. The funeral service was in the Methodist Church and burial was in the Blue River Cemetery. His father, Nathaniel Gradeless was born in maryland and took part in the War of 1812 and saw service in both Allen and Whitley County, Ind . The deceased was a Mason. HUMBARGER, Mrs. Sallie died in the county infirmary on- Sunday evening at 11.45 o'clock. She was aged 82 years and had been at the infirmary 20 years. (Wednesday issue dated 17 Dec. 1902)
BAINBRIDGE, G.M. died 12 December 1902; he was born 19 March 1832 in Oneida County, N.Y. but spent his boyhood on his parent's farm in Wyoming County. In 1850 he came to Whitley County, Indiana with his brother, A.A. Bainbridge. He married Martha Hughes on 16 February 1865 and .they had four children, namely Charles E., Net- tie E., Hallie E. (died aged 5 years) and Gilbert Mi. .. In. 1893 he moved his family to Marion, Indiana where his wife died on 4 Feb. '1901. Since his wife's death he had lived with his daughter, Nettie Powell and died in her home. The funeral was held in mar- ion on Sunday, December 14th. Burial was in the Masonic Cem. (now Greenhill) in Columbia City, Indiana.
HUMBARGER, Sallie (see above) was taken to the home of Amanda Pressler on S.Line Street, Columbia City, Indiana. The funeral service was at ten o'clock A. M. in the Egolf Church on Wednesday.
. PAUGH, Franklin. E. , died 17 April 1902; he was born on 4 November 1870 in Kosciusko County, Ind. He was a member of the 17th U.S. Cav. and. saw service in the Spanish American Mar. He died in a hospital at Pila Laguna, P.I. of typhoid fever. He sailed for
. the P.I. on 16 December 1901. The body arrived here from Manila on December 12th. The funeral service was in charge of the Rev. Luckenbill and the Rev. Love.
DECK, John met deat by accident while picking apples Fri- day morning. He was born in Parks County ( probably Berks ) , Pennsylvania on 18 September 1829 and was aged 72-11-11. He had lived about 40 years in the vicinity of Churubusco, Indiana. With his parents he moved to Stark County, Ohio in 183C. He came to Whitley Count: , Indiana in 1664 and bought a farm of 124 acres hear Churubusco but sold it in 1865 and moved into the village. He built the Churubusco Flouring mills which he sold when completed. He had the following named children: hary E. (wife of Thomas Fisher), John F., Sarah F. (wife of G. a. maxwell), Benjamin F., alice, Charles and Clement. The last named died before his father. ( Wednesday issue dated 3 Sept. 1902)
