INTRODUCTION

$915

This is the third edition of R. L. Polk & Co.'s Leavenworth City and County Directory.

Although Leavenworth has always had the advantage of experi- ence and a thorough system it is more complete this year than ever and it is sixty pages larger than last year.

It is therefore presented with the assurance that it is an improve- ment upon its worthy predecessors, such as may naturally be expected from experience and practice.

The Leavenworth Directory contains a complete City Directory of Leavenworth, of Lansing, Bain City, Ft. Leavenworth and the Na- tional Military Home for Disabled Soldiers. Then the whole is clas- sitied by trades and professions making a special trade directory for each line of business.

Then, a complete list of the farmers and land-owners is included. The people of the cities, villages and farms are thus brought together in business and social interests and the commodities of each may be easily exchanged. The farmers and business men have the addresses of each other at a nominal cost and thus may buy each other's commo- dities with ease and facility.

The Leavenworth Directory is the greatest Buyers' Guide in the world. Everything that is made, bought or sold in the county is classified under a proper heading and under these headings the naines of persons who make or sell them. A glance over the well arranged pages of the Classified Directory is like going to the market place- everything is brought to view at a glance and here one may buy intelligently and get the best of everything at the lowest price.

The present estimated population of Leavenworth is 23,000.

Respectfully,

-
