THE CLASS CATALOGUE.
In the case of those who received more than one degree from the University, the address and occupation are given where the record of the first degree appears in the catalogue, except in the case of those who received certificates from the Normal School.
The maiden names of married women graduates are printed in italics.
The occupation of married women, if not specified, is under- stood to be that of housewife. Single women may be under- stood to be "at home" unless information to the contrary is given.
Graduates of the School of Law or the School of Pharmacy whose addresses are given in the catalogue may be regarded as engaged in the pursuits indicated by their schools, unless other information is given. In cases where definite information has been received, however, it is recorded by use of the term "lawyer" or "pharmacist."
THE INDEX.
In the alphabetical list which follows the Class Catalogue, the letters and figures after each name have the following sig- nificance :
Figures indicate the year in which the person graduated, and the letter shows in what school of that year his name will be found in the Class Catalogue. In case the person is a graduate of more than one school, information concerning him should be sought as indicated by the first reference. The significance of the letters is as follows: c or no letter before the year means that the person is a graduate of the College; g, Graduate School; e, School of Engineering; l, Law; p, Pharmacy; fa, Fine Arts; m, Medicine; n, Normal Department.
Married women are indexed both by their maiden names and by their names after marriage; but in the Class Catalogue such persons are placed in the list according to their names after marriage.
