PREFACE.

In presenting this, the seventh volume of the BROOKLINE BLUE BOOK, to our patrons, we are pleased to call attention to the additions and improvements we have made over former issues.

The addition of the alphabetical list, together with the increase in popula- tion, brings the book up to an increased size, and we have added certain new and valuable features not found in the previous volumes.

We now publish the "summer residences " and " at home " days of those who have so desired and sent in the necessary information in time. This idea we think will prove of value to our patrons.

We thank the large number of subscribers for their orders, and are confident they will be better satisfied to pay a small sum for a good book than to receive a less complete one free.

We have been careful in selecting our advertisers, and can recommend them as worthy of patronage.

Very respectfully, EDWARD A. JONES.

S. N. Ufford & Son (Ladies' forms to order a specialty), 12 West St., Boston.

A visit to the establishment of Messrs. Ufford & Son of 2 West Street, revealed to us a business not a little surprising. The bean- tiful precision attained by their long expe- rienee in the art-for it may well be ealled au art-of producing in papier-mache the exact counterpart of a lady's bust figure enables not only the dressmaker. ut the lady in her h me. if desired, to fit and dra e her dresses Dress fitting can be m de a pleasure if not a pastime.

For a few dollars ladies can avail them- selves of Messrs. Uffords' long experience and efforts to lighten one of "Woman's burdens." Thousands of ladies using their 'forms" express their satisfaction in such teros as: ' Comfort of my life," "Invaluable !" "Worth its weight in gold to me " etc We have not space to-day to speak of their new Patent Ex- tension Steel For », that dressmakers say is the best they ever used .- Boston News.
