Application for a Warrant.


April 20th 1832


To Francis B. Stelling. Esg- one of the justices of The Place within and for the county of Hampden. We the Subscribers, members of the Parish or Congrega tional Society for Religious Worship in the town of Brimfield in Said County, I legal voters of said Parish or Society, respectfully represente. That divers Inhabitants of said town who are not members of said society. have hitherto been displeased, because the parochial busines of said Society. has in times past been conducted by said town at their public town meetings and the Parish tax afsefsed by the afselsors of said town, so that in consequence of said complaints, there seems to be danger of disputes arising. Being desirous of promoting as much as possible the existence of harmony and good will among our citizens, we do therefore request you the said justice to ilove a warrant directed to some suit. able member of said Parish or Religious Society, requiring him to notify and warn all the members of said Society who are qualified by law to vote in town affairs to afsemble at the meeting house in said town on Monday the thirtieth day of April instant at two of the clock in the afternoon, then & there to act on the following articles viz


1 To choose a Moderator to preside in said meeting


2. To see if said members will proceed to organize the Parish in the manner by law provided, so us to transact their business in future by Parish Meetings instead of by Town Meetings.


3. To choose all such Parish Officers as Parishes are by law authorized to choose at their annual meetings 4." To direct in what manner Parish meetings. Shall herefter be warned, + where the same shall be held


5. To direct at what time in march or april of each succeeding year the annual meeting for the choice of Parish officers shall be held. 6." To raise such sums of money as the Parish shall think proper for incidental expenses for the year Ensuing

L.S. town of Minfield in said bounty and Constable of said town , Greeting .


"Whereas Ten or more of the legal voters of said Congrega tional Society or Parish in said Town of Brimfuld have made application in writing to me Francis B. Stebbins Esq one of the Justices of the peace within X for the said county of Hampe den to issue a warrant for calling a meeting of the members of said Society to act upon the articles hereinafter mentioned: You are there. fore hereby required in the name of said Commonwealth to notify and warn all the members of said Parish or Congregational Society who are qualified by law to vote in town affairs To afsemble at the meeting house in said Brimfield on Monday the thirtieth day of April inst. at Two of the clock in the afternoon, then and there to act on the following articles 1.
