Directory Borrowers

(From 1907 Montreal Directory. )

Many are the complaints of those who regularly patronize the Directory that they are bored so much by borrowers; not the stranger or private citizen who steps into the office, looks at the Directory, and goes out, but business men who continually need it for reference, yet are too close-fisted to buy one. These are the individuals who carry off your Directory " just for a few minutes," which generally means A FEW DAYS unless you send for it before; then you have scarcely housed it before some one else presents the request "Please lend me your Directory for a few minutes?" Perhaps you won't see it again for a week; yet this same borrower will tell our solicitor that he has no use for a Directory, he " knows everybody " and " everybody knows him."

The Transcript has admirable resources for covering all of the daily events, both of greater or less importance, in its territory. No other newspaper in this field gives such early or complete reports of all happenings bearing upon the life of this community.

The Transcript receives the reports of the Associated Press, the most perfect news-gathering service in the world, and also has special representatives in many cities.

Stories of local interest are illustrated with photographs reproduced by the Transcript's photo-engraving department.

Advertising Department

The Transcript prints 6,000 copies daily.

In North Adams the Transcript sells over 25 per cent more papers than do all its North Adams, Springfield, New York and Boston contemporaries combined.

The out-of-town circulation averages daily over 2,500 copies, Adams and Williamstown taking most of them. This fact is of vital interest to every live North Adams merchant.

The readers of the Transcript embrace all classes. The paper is read from front page to last.

Advertising space in the Transcript costs less per 1,000 bona fide circulation than in any other newspaper in Berkshire County.

Circulation books are open to inspection at all times.
