The Great Lung Remedy.

MASTA'S INDIAN PULMONIC BALSAM, FOR THE CURE OF-

COUGHS, COLDS, HOARSENESS, Sore Throat, Bronchitis, Catarrh, Influenza, Croup, Hooping Cough, Asthma, and all other affections of the Lungs and Chest.

Coughs, and all Diseases of the Throat and Lungs, are speedily reliev- ed by the use of this valuable preparation.

In those cases that are beyond recovery, more ease and comfort are derived from its use than from any other medicine.

It is composed entirely of Vegetable Ingredients, free from Minerals and Poisonous Acids, and can be relied on at all times and under all cir- cumstances.

In Lowell, Massachusetts, where it is manufactured and well known, the demand is unparalleled, having met with wonderful success in an extensive practice for the last eighteen years.

Testimonials and directions accompany the medicine.

For Hoarseness and Sore Throat It gives decided relief, and effects a rapid and permanent cure.

For Colds and Coughs

It affords immediate relief, by its positive power to quiet irritation and abate feverish excitement throughout the system.

For Bronchitis

It is an effectual and certain remedy. It has a specific applicability for all Diseases of the throat.

For Croup and Whooping Cough

It affords immediate relief, in all cases, by its expectorant and anti- spasmodic properties, and by its power effectually to allay irritation of the lining membranes of the air-passages.

For Congestive and Spasmodic Diseases of the Lungs It is the most reliable remedy now before the public, and particular- ly for that distressing disease, the Asthma.

For Bleeding from the Lungs

It has extraordinary efficacy, checking undue arterial excitement, and tending rapidly to restore and equalize the circulation.

For Consumption

It is the most reliable remedy, certain to arrest irritation and speed- ily relieve a Cough ; it at the same time yields nutritive, strengthening and healing influence, imparting vigor to the whole system. Upon this peculiar but rare power of renovating the system, rests its great efficacy for the cure of all the first stages of Consumption.

LOWELL DIRECTORY.

PREFACE.

THE Publisher offers herewith to the public another volume of the Lowell Directory. The nature of the population of this city, subject as it is, in common with the population of other manufacturing cities, to much fluctuation, renders an Annual Directory desirable, in order to present a correct view of the city as it is. The number of removals, changes, &c., for the past year, has been very great, which has enhanced the need of a Directory much above the wants of ordinary years.

In the miscellaneous department, an altogether original plan has been adopted, which, it is believed, will meet the approba- tion of the people of this city. When almanacs are gratuitous- ly and profusely given to the public, it has not seemed desira- ble to incorporate one with a directory ; it is therefore omitted. For reasons given on page 193, the Business Directory is also omitted. In place of these, a large amount of statistics relat- ing to churches, schools, manufactures, &c., &c., have patient- ly been collected and compiled, and which will be especially valuable for reference and preservation.

It is not pretended that the present Directory is absolutely free from errors. In such a work it is morally impossible it should be. But it is claimed that the labor has been faithfully and impartially done, and the result is cheerfully submitted to a discerning public.
