SELECTMEN'S REPORT
To the Citizens of the Town of Merrimac:
The seventy-sixth annual report of the Town of Mer- rimac is herewith presented for your consideration in ac- cordance with Chapter 40, Section 49, of the General Laws of Massachusetts.
The organization of the Board of Selectmen for the year 1951 was-
Kenneth E. Haskell Chairman
Robert E. Fryer Clerk
Ralph L. Buzzell Member
The Board also organized with the same officers as a Board of Health and Board of Veterans Benefits. W. Harold Whiting was designated as Agent of the Board of Health and Kenneth E. Haskell was appointed Veterans Agent.
The Board has administered the various funds voted to be spent under their direction to the best of their ability and hope that the voters are satisfied with the results ob- tained.
Again we wish to thank the Department of Corpor- ations and Bureau of Accounts, all heads of departments and townspeople for their co-operation and assistance during the past year, and also the Town Accountant W ..

REPORT OF THE MERRIMAC BOARD OF PUBLIC WELFARE
To the Citizens of the Town of Merrimac:
The elected members of the Board of Public Welfare organized for the past year with the following Officers-
Chairman

Ellen M. Wallace
Member J. Arthur Ollis
We have administered to all who have applied to us for aid and upon investigation have found to be needy. We have found that we were able to finish the year with- out asking for additional funds and upon checking our rolls hope that we will not need more funds in the coming year.
This year we are forced to open a new branch of re- lief due to passage of a new law. This branch will be known as Disability Assistance.
We are going to ask for the following appropriation in 1952.
Aid to Dependent Children $ 5,000.00
Public Welfare 9,000.00
Old Age Assistance 40,000.00
Disability Assistance
5,000.00

AND SLAUGHTERING

I have made the following calls and inspections and issued the following licenses for the year 1951.
License for sale of Oleomargarine 8
Store License for the sale of milk and cream 16
Vehicle Licenses for sale of milk and cream 10
A total of 34 licenses at 50 cents, $17.00 collected and turned over to the Town Treasurer.

REPORT OF BOARD OF FIRE ENGINEERS
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and Citizens of the Town of Merrimac :
The Board of Fire Engineers submit the following report for the year ending December 31, 1951.

Fire Loss $5,276.00
Number of calls for resuscitator 2
At the present time we have 25 regular, and 10 sub- stitute firemen.
We wish to take this opportunity to express our thanks to all Town Officials and Citizens for their co-opera- tion and support.
We recommend that the sum of $4,400.00 be appropri- ated for salaries and general maintenance of the Merrimac Fire Department.
