ANNUAL REPORT.


Town Meeting.


To be held in Town Hall, Monday, March 5th, 1900, at 9 a. m., to act on the following articles :


1st. To choose a Moderator.


2nd. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing, including a Tree Warden and an Auditor, and to vote "Yes" or "No" on the question, shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this Town.


3rd. To hear the reports of the Town Officers, and act thereon.


4th. To hear the report of the Auditor, and act thereon.


5th. To see if the Town will accept and approve of the Jurors nominated by the Selectmen, and act thereon.


6th. To raise and appropriate a sum of money for Highways, Townways and Bridges, and to determine the expenditure of the same.


7th. To raise such sums of money as may be neces- sary to defray Town charges for the year ensuing, and appropriate the same.


8th. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money to purchase Books for the Public Library.


9th. To see if the Town will authorize the Treas- urer to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen to pay Town charges.


10th. To see if the Town will allow a discount to persons making a voluntary payment of their taxes on or before some date that may be fixed by the Town, and charge interest after a date the Town may fix.

11th. To choose three Fish Wardens.


12th. To choose three Oyster Wardens.


13th. To determine the compensation of the Treas- urer and Collector of Taxes.


14th. To see if the Town will instruct the Overseers of the Poor to hire a Superintendent of the Town Farm for the year succeeding their term of office.


15th. To see if the Town will vote to release William P. Marble and David B. Hood from further payments on their notes, or to otherwise dispose of the Oyster Fisheries belonging to the Town.


16th. To see if the Town will vote to build a new School House at the South Village, and to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the payments on the same, agreeable to a petition of Daniel D. Andrews, and ten others.


17th. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to repair the interior of the Town Hall, by request.

ANNUAL REPORT.


At the adjourned Town Meeting it was voted to paint Dighton and Berkley Bridge, and two hundred dollars was appropriated, and the Commissioners met and advertised for proposals, John Chadwick being the lowest bidder, the contract was awarded to him for the sum of two hundred and seventy-five dollars. The work was done in a very satisfactory manner.

LAW SUIT.


One suit has been commenced against the Town by John E. Chandler, for work on the highway in 1893 and 1895. This was settled agreeable to a vote passed at a Special Town Meeting, held Dec. 18, 1899, and a full release from Mr. Chandler, is on file in the Town Clerk's office.
