ANNUAL REPORT.
CLAIMS OF DAMAGE.
Two claims for damage have been presented to the Town, the first by Dr. H. B. Baker, for loss of a horse on Elm Street, Nov. 30, 1898, upon that part of the highway occupied by the Street Railway. The second by Mrs. Elizabeth W. Read for personal injuries received by falling upon the sidewalk on Pleasant Street, on the evening of March 24, said fall having been caused by an obstruction on the sidewalk.
Both these claims were referred to the Town at a Special Town Meeting, held August 19, 1899, and the Town voted that the Selectmen settle the claim of Mrs. Read for three hundred dollars, and the claim of Dr. Baker was referred to the Selectmen 'to settle as they deemed for the best interest of the Town, and the claim was settled by the payment of one hundred and fifty dollars, and a full release from Mrs. Read and Dr. H B. Baker is on file at the Town Clerk's office.
