On motion of John W. Owen, it was voted to raise and appropriate fifty-six thousand dollars for construction, maintenance and repairs of

highways, the purchase of materials, tools and appliances and for the payment of any other incidental expenses pertaining thereto ($56,000).


On motion of John W. Owen, it was voted that the sum of fifteen thousand dollars be raised and appropriated for the removal of snow and ice ($15,000.00).


On motion of John W. Owen, it was voted that the sum of three thousand dollars be raised and appropriated for cleaning drainage ditches ($3,000.00).


On motion of Henry R. Johnson, it was voted that there be included in the tax levy for electricity used for street lights, the sum of twelve thousand dollars, and that said sum and the income from sales of elec- tricity to private consumers and for electricity supplied for municipal power and from sales of appliances and jobbing during the current fiscal year, be appropriated for the municipal lighting plant, the whole to be expended by the manager of municipal lighting under the direction and control of the Municipal Light Board, for the expense of the plant for said fiscal year, as defined in Section 57 of Chapter 164 of the General Laws, and that if said sum and said income shall exceed said expense for said fiscal year, such excess shall be transferred to the construction fund of said plant and appropriated and used for such additions thereto as may thereafter be authorized by the Municipal Light Board; and said Board is further authorized to transfer from the operation fund to the construction fund an amount not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars to be expended for new construction during 1926 ($12,000.00).


On motion of Albert R. Shepardson, it was voted to raise and ap- propriate for the School Department one hundred eighty-one thousand and four dollars divided as follows :

On motion of Arthur N. Mansfield, it was voted to raise and ap- propriate six thousand six hundred fifty dollars for support of the Public

On motion of John W. Owen, it was voted to raise and appropriate for recreation two thousand six hundred dollars.


Park Department Maintenance $2,600.00


On motion of Galen A. Parker, it was voted to raise and appropriate the sum of eighty-three hundred dollars for the care and maintenance of Laurel Hill Cemetery ($8,300.00).


On motion of John W. Owen, it was voted that the receipts of the Water Department, namely $7,035.00 for hydrant rentals, $100.00 for

drinking fountains, together with other receipts, estimated at $38,236.00, and the balance on hand January 1, 1926, $2,725.57, be appropriated for payment of Water Bonds, Interest on Water Loans, Maintenance of Water Works, Main and Service Pipes and Extensions.


On motion of Leon G. Bent, it was voted that ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) be appropriated from Excess and Deficiency Fund to apply toward the payment of Funded Debt maturing in 1926, and that the Town Accountant be and hereby is authorized to transfer said amount for that purpose.


On motion of Leon G. Bent, it was voted to lay Article 4 on the table.


Article 5. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) for the Reserve Fund as provided by Section 6, Chapter 40, General Laws, or what it will do in relation thereto.

Article 5. On motion of Leon G. Bent, it was voted that three thousand dollars be raised and appropriated for the Reserve Fund, as pro- vided by Section 6, Chapter 40 of the General Laws.


Article 6. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in antici- pation of revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1926, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of said financial year.

Article 6. On motion of Wilfred A. Bancroft, it was voted that the Town Treasurer be authorized, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1926, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of said financial year.


Article 7. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to renew or refund any notes issued in anti- cipation of revenue for a period of less than one year, in accordance with the provisions of Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws, or what it will do in relation thereto.

Article 7. On motion of Wilfred A. Bancroft, it was voted that the Town Treasurer be authorized, with the approval of the Selectmen, to renew or refund any notes issued in anticipation of revenue for a period of less than one year in accordance with the provisions of Section 17, Chapter 44 of the General Laws.


Article 8. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of three hundred and sixty dollars ($360.00) for the purpose of providing suitable quarters for Veteran Post No. 194, G. A. R., in accordance with the provisions of Section 5, Chapter 40, General Laws, or what it will do in relation thereto.

Article 8. On motion of Walter S. Parker, it was voted that three hundred sixty dollars be raised and appropriated for the purpose of

providing suitable quarters for Veteran Post No. 194, G. A. R., in accor- dance with Section 5, Chapter 40 of the General Laws ($360.00).


Article 9. To see how much money the Town will raise and appro- priate for the care of graves of any persons who have served in the Army, Navy or Marine Corps of the United States, in time of war or insurrection, and who have been honorably discharged from such service. as provided by Section 22, Chapter 115, General Laws, or what it will do in relation thereto. (Board of Selectmen).


Article 9. On motion of Walter S. Parker, it was voted that five hundred dollars be raised and appropriated for the care of graves of any persons who have served in the Army, Navy or Marine Corps of the United States in the time of war or insurrection and who have been honorably discharged from such service, as provided by Section 22, Chapter 115 of the General Laws ($500.00).


Artcle 10. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of an Act of the General Court in 1926 entitled "An Act Providing for Ap- pointive Trustees of Trust Funds in the Town of Reading", or what it will do in relation thereto. (Board of Selectmen.)


Article 10. On motion of Robert E. Parker, it was voted to accept the provisions of an Act of the General Court in 1926 entitled "An Act Providing for Commissioners of Trust Funds in the Town of Reading."
