Att a meeting of the Select men June the 2ª 1696- Then agreed with Ensigne Jnº Batcheler to take care of the meeting hous for the yeare Ensuing & his folkes to Ring the bell & swepe said hous as oft as ocation shall require for the yeare Ensuing from the 28th day of May last past and he to have for his Care and said Service: Twentey four shillings in or as money : or Thirtey shill- ings in pay : to be putt into the Rates either Countrey or Towne Rate-

Lt Charles Gott did receive into his hous or familey & Entertain his kinswoman Mercey Fiske the widdow & relict of Noah Fiske Deceased without the leave of the Select men & Contrarey to the Towne order & now by the Providence of God she being vissitted with sickness and lameness and not able to help herself and her Con- dition being so dangerous as that it calls for spedey re- leife and sd Lt Gott not being at home to take care for her the Select men judg it ther dutey to do something for her present releife & she haveing putt her self under the hands of M' Edward Wells of Salem Practition" in Phi- sick and Chyrurgerey for help under God it is agreed that if sª M' Wells will use his best skill to doe what he can for her present relefe where she is| the Sª Select men in behalf of the Towne will take care that he shall have sutable sattisfaction for his care and pains in the matter ; but will not yeild to have her removed to Salem|

Voated that the towne will make sale of the severall percells of land hearafter mentioned: Viz. that small stripp of land leying betwene the land of Nathaniel Wal- derne & Thomas Whites land & also a small stripp of land leying by John Dodges land so much as may be for the straightening his lyne from his white oake Tree to the Corner of his fence neare the Grape Vine & an other small stripp of land leying at the Northwardley end of Wenham Causway & on the Westwardley side of the Road, and the Townes part in the Island caled Wen- ham Island for procureing mony for the paying the townes debts
