Extracts from Rules and Regulations.
ARTICLE I. Any inhabitant of the town of Belmont cver twelve years of age, who shall sign, when required, an obligation to observe all the existing Rules and Regulations of the Library, and all that may be subsequently adopted, shall have the right to take books therefrom so long as he or she shall comply with the same.
ART. III. No book shall be retained by the person borrowing it more than two weeks without renewal. nor shall more than one re- newal be allowed until the book shall have remained in the Library one full library day. The fine for the retention of any volume over the time specified shall be two cents for every library day it is so re- tained. Borrowers of books will be responsible for the same until returned to the hands of the Librarian or his assistant.
Art. IV. When any book is likely to be frequently called for, the time of its retention from the Library may be limited to one week, the time of its retention being made conspicuous on its cover ; and if such book be retained beyond the specified time, the person so retaining it shall pay the same fine as provided in Art. III.
Art. VI. Any book retained beyond the time prescribed by these regulations may be sent for by the Librarian, and the expense incurred in obtaining it shall be paid by the person who has so retained it.
Art. VIII. All books are required to be returned to the Library on or before the 15th of August, under penalty of a fine of fifty cents. The Library will be closed for examination from Aug. 15 to Sept 1.
Art. IX. No person owing a fine or forfeiture shall receive books from the Library until the same is paid.
