REGULATIONS CONCERNING FIRE ALARMS.
First alarm to be given by striking four rounds on all bells.
Second alarm to be given by striking three blows on all bells.
Third alarm to be given by striking ten blows on all bells.
1 One stroke at 12 M. Washington time, and 9 p. m. every evening.
1-1 Two strokes slow for fire out, and all ap- paratus under way will return to quarters.
INFORMATION FOR YOU.
The key to your nearest fire alarm box, you will find in small box attached to door of fire box.
To give an alarm, break glass in front of small box, turn the key you will find there, open the door to fire box, pull down the hook in the box once (without jerking) and let go. Wait a few seconds and if you hear no clicking of the wheels, pull again (no clicking, no alarm) ; if then no movement is heard, go to the nearest box aud try, after which, report immediately to the superin- tendent or at the Station House, the box out of order.
Before ringing an alarm be sure that a fire act- ually exists.
Do not give an alarm for a fire seen at a dis- tance, as all needless alarms are an expense to the town, and should be avoided as much as possible.
All persons giving fire alarms are requested to remain by the box, if possible, to direct the fire- men to the fire. Each box contains a small bell, which, if heard before you pull, indicates that the alarm has been previously given.
. After the first alarm has been rung in, all other alarms or signals are given only by the engineers.
Tampering with any of the apparatus connected with the Fire Alarm Telegraph will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

SPECIAL NOTICE.
The fact that an alarm box is located near their residence and where the key is kept, should be known to all persons, both male and female; and the simple manner of giving an alarm in case of fire should be a matter of common education. The chief recommends to all persons who may see this notice, that they make all necessary inqui- ries to enable them, in case of need, either to pull an alarm in, or direct others to do so. Time saved in this way may prevent a conflagration.
