PUBLIC LIBRARY
APPENDIX C- PEABODY FUND.
During the year ending November 29, 1902, there were added to the books in the public library 377 new volumes purchased from the income of the Peabody fund. These, with the 9,675 previously contributed from the same source, make a total of 10,052 which the library has received in the twenty-five years since Mr. Peabody's generous donation was made. The fund remains, as originally deposited, in the Institution for Savings. The income for the present year has been less than ever before, 31/2 per cent, and in this connection it may be of interest to state that, in common with the decreased earning capacity of other sound investments, this income has gradually shrunken until now it is just one-half what it was annually for the first seven years of the fund's history.
The treasurer would report that, added to the balance of $403.71 at the close of last year, the income, $525, one year's interest, makes a total credit of $928.71. There have been charged against this, bills paid for

APPENDIX D- BUILDING FUND.
The trustees of the building fund, which was origin- ally $5,000, left over above the sum collected and expended for purchasing and equipping the library building, report that there is now on deposit in the Institution for Savings the sum of $6,420.53, and in the Ocean National Bank $91.10. There has been ex- pended during the past year, for necessary repairs and improvements on the building, $234.43, and for insur- ance $225, making a total expenditure of $459.43. The building is now insured for $15,000, the policies expiring January 31, 1907.
CHARLES W. MOSELEY, Treasurer. LAWRENCE B. CUSHING, FREDERICK S. MOSELEY,
