Although the parties in question were privileged under the law governing the Board of Fence Viewers to appeal from a decision or a. decree of said Board, no appeal was taken by any of the parties.

The Honorable Board of Aldermen with the approval of the Mayor appropriated the sum of twenty-five dollars for expenses for the Board of Fence Viewers and we respectfully request that the same sum be appro- priated for the year 1925.

Report of Wire Department

I respectfully submit the following report:

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM .- Eight hundred and four inspections of box movements were made,-making the necessary repairs and adjust- ments. All boxes were painted two coats of fire alarm red. Five miles of old wire were replaced with new. Sixty-one four-pin and ninety-two two-pin arms were replaced with new. One new fire alarm box was in- stalled at the corner of Holland Road and West Emerson Street.

POLICE SIGNAL SYSTEM .- Three hundred and ten inspections of box movement were made, installing ten new finger-springs and tele- phone batteries as needed. Five miles of copper wire were pulled in on the red light system to replace old iron wire. Sixty-two four-pin and twenty-seven two-pin arms were replaced with new.

INSPECTION OF WIRES .- Sixteen hundred and two requests for inspections were received,-making a total of twenty-eight hundred and twenty inspections; one thousand and five permits were issued to the Malden Electric Company allowing current to be turned on.

RECOMMENDATIONS .- That a fire alarm box be installed on every school house, and, where they have an inside system, have that connected to the outside or master box. That the city wires on Main Street from Porter Street to the Wakefield line be pulled in underground. That at least two more boxes be added to both the Fire and Police Signal Systems. That an air whistle be installed on the Fire Headquarters or some other suitable place.
