UNITED STATES MONEY ORDERS.
Money Orders, for any amount not over $300, and not exceeding $100 on one order, are issued in the principal offices, on payment of the following fees: -

UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION.
The rates of postage for correspondence addressed to the under-mentioned coun tries and places belonging to the Postal Union are as follows: -
Prepayment optional, except for registered matter; but on printed_matter and samples, postage must be at least partially prepaid.
Letters. - Five cents per fifteen grams, which weight'is very slightly over one- half ounce.
Post Cards. - Two cents each.
Printed Matter. - One cent for each two ounces or fraction. Not over four pounds six ounces can be sent.
Commercial Papers, way-bills, invoices, insurance documents, deeds, manu- scripts of works, legal papers, etc , the same as for printed matter; but the low- est charge is five cents.
Samples of Merchandise. - The same as for printed matter, but the lowest charge is two cents. Not over eight and three-fourths ounces can be sent; except to Great Britain, France, Belgium, and Switzerland, to which countries twelve ounces is the limit.

Never send money or any other article of value through the mail, except either by means of a money-order or in a registered letter. All classes of mail matter can be registered.

To insure a letter being forwarded in the mails, it must have not less than one full rate in postage-stamps affixed.

CARRIAGE FARES IN BOSTON.

For one adult, from any place in the city proper south of Dover Street and west of Berkeley Street to any place north of State, Court, and Cambridge Streets, or from any place north of State, Court, and Cambridge Streets to any place south of Dover Street and west of Berkeley Street, one dollar. For two or more passen- gers, fifty cents each.
Children under four years, with an adult, no charge.
Children between four and twelve years old, with an adult, half price.
From twelve at night to six in the morning, the fare is fifty cents above the pre- ceding rates for each passenger.
No charge for one trunk; each additional trunk, twenty-five cents.
