EDWARDS' COMBINED RANGE & FURNACE.

PATENTED MAY 16, 1865,

And just put into use with the most satisfactory results, promises to entirely supplant the use of all other ranges and furnaces. The reason for this is, that by its combination principle, it requires only a single fire to do the cooking and heating for the whole house, while it con- sumes even less coal than an ordinary range. As a Range for cooking and baking purposes, it possesses many improvements which make it greatly superior to any range hitherto invented, while its economy of fuel and labor, as a Furnace, can scarcely be estimated.

For Sale, and can be seen in operation at the Warerooms,

ROBINSON'S PATENT System of Ventilation,

For Churches, Schoolrooms, Prisons, Stables, Factories and Workshops, Drying and Dressing Rooms, &c.

FOUNDED ON THE ONLY CORRECT THEORY OF VENTILATION,

Has been applied, in many hundreds of cases, with universal success.

On page 37 of Boston School Report for 1863, see this :

" In the nearly or quite unanimous opinion and experience of the mem- bers of the School Board, the system of ventilation represented by Robinson's Instruments, is the best now in the market.

Their judgment, in this respect, is based not upon mere theory, but on positive, indisputable facts.

In the Bowditch Grammar Schoolhouse, and in the Primary Schoolhouse on Harrison Avenue, the success of these ventilators has been complete and entirely satisfactory, and CANNOT BE QUESTIONED."

SHOE BLACKINGS, DRESSINGS, &C.

The undersigned have been engaged in the manufacture of Blackings, Dressings, and Varnishes for many years, and feel warranted in claiming that for all the qualities required in this class of goods theirs are far superior to any other manufactured in this country.

THE LIQUID BLACKING is so well and favorably known that it needs no commendation from us. The fact that it has been in the market for the last twenty years in successful competition with the most celebrated foreign makers, under a low tariff, and is used exclusively by the principal hotels in the country, is suficient rec- ommendation. It is put up in stone bottles, which are packed in boxes of one dozen.

The following endorsements from the Head Poiters of the Boston Hotels are re- spectfully submitted : -

We, the undersigned, Head Porters, have used for a number of years, and are now constantly using, BROWN & BROTHER'S LIQUID BLACKING, and although we have from time to time tested other Blackings offered us, we have found none to exceed "Brown & Brother's " in giving the most polish with the least amount of labor.

We make this statement in justice to Messrs. B. F. Brown & Co., the Manufacturers and Proprietors of the above-named Blacking, the facts in the case having been of late much misrepresented. BOSTON, January 3, 1865.

JAMES DRISCOLL, Parker House, CHARLES DAGAN, Adams House,

M. LYNCH, Revere 66 JAMES E. ROGERS, Quincy

JOHN J. MAHONY, Tremont 1 JAMES CAVANAGH, Marlboro' Hotel,

JOSEPH PERRY, American

H. E. GRISWELL, Hotel l'etham.

LORIN CARDELL, U. S. Hotel,

THE NEW PASTE BLACKING, which we warrant superior to anything of the kind in the market, and will keep longer than any other, is put up in a new and beautiful style; and the marked favor with which it has been received by the public, and our largely increasing sales, are the best evidences of its superior qualities.

The uses to which the Thick and Thin Dressing Blackings, Edge Blacking, and Varnishes are applied, are so well understood that they require no special reference to them.

The " REDINTEGRATING BLACKING" is for restoring Leather which has become red from mould or other causes, to a perfect and permanent Black. This will do it effectually, and save dealers from the losses to which they have had to sub- mit for the want of such an article. It is also used largely in blacking harnesses in- stead of using lamp-black, and is much superior and more permanent. The harness only requires to be blacked with the "Redintegrating" and then oiled, and will not "smut" or " danb " as when Jamp-black is used.

The "CIRAGE FRANCAIS, or " French Dressing, " is the most splendid article ever produced for the purposes for which it is designed. It restores Ladies' and Children's Boots and Shoes which have become red or rusty and rough by wear- ing, to a perfect and permanent black, at the same time giving them as much lustre as when new, leaving the leather perfectly soft and pliable as before; and, what is of great importance to the ladies, it will not come off when wet and soil the skirts.

BOSTON, April 25, 1865.

MR. B. F. BROWN : Dear Sir, -The "French Dressing for Ladies' and Children's Boots and Shoes," manufactured by you, I have sold very largely of to my customers, and it has given universal satisfaction.

I esteem it the best thing of the kind that has yet been produced. It is all that it purports to be; in fact, just the thing long been needed, and should be, -- as no doubt it soon will be, - found in every family throughout the country.

Respectfully yours,
