OBITUARY NOTICES.
1775. He continued a uniform and firm supporter of those repub- lican principles, for which he so early stood forth, and ever sup- ported the character of an exemplary citizen, tender husband and kind parent -he lived respected and died lamented.

FARNSWORTH, Mr. Ezra, Groton, 25 Nov., &. 86 ; the oldest male inhabitant. "The house in which he died was on the same spot where he was born, and the same land had been occupied by two generations of the same name before him ; and in fact, was never owned by any one but Ezra Farnsworth since held by the Indians. He left no children, but there are two relatives of the second and third generation, of the same name." The deceased was born 30 Nov., 1770; the 3d of ro childn. of Ezra F. (b. 1744) and Elizabeth (Sheple) F. ; of Ezra (b. 1703) and Abigail (Pierce) F .; of Benjamin and Mary (Prescott) F. ; of Matthias and Mary F. who settled in Groton. - Wyman, from Butler's Groton. Of the Groton Farnsworths was descended the late worthy mem- ber of the Historical and Gen. Society, the Rev. James D. Farns- worth, whose sudden death is recorded in Vol. IX. p. 98-9.
