PERU.
In 1861 an appropriation of 8500 was made for the benefit of volun- teers "and their families if needy."
In July, 1862. 8500 were voted for bounties to fountain, and in Sopron- ber bounties of 8125 each were offered for nine months' volttuteurs, Money was raised in 1803 for State aid. as provided for by an act of the Legislature, and in 1864 the selection were invested with discretionary power with regard to the bounties to be paid, and they were directed to raise recruits in anticipation of calls.
The amount expended for war purposes was $3.360, and for Stoordid $1,168.36.

PITTSFIELD.
A meeting of the citizens of Pittsfield was lo ld on the 10th of Apod. 1861, at which action was taken to provide for the families of volunteers from the town in the eighth regiment. Ara town menhossont the god of May, the action of the citizens meeting was approved and confirmed.
March 3d. 1862, two thousand dollars were appropriated for Statoil
August 2d a bounty of one hundred dollars was wied to coph swinn teer for three years, and August 25th this bounty was raised to one ton dred and seventy- five dollars.
Recruiting was continued through 1863, and in the Latter part of 1801 the bounty was increased to one hundred and fifty dollars, at which it was held to the end of the war.
On account of the war Pittsfield appropriated and expended al20, 010.72; and for State aid, afterward reimbursed by the commonwealth. $36,980.90.
