2. Robert, of Scotland, b. in 1749; m. Nov. 1, 1787, Mary Bald- win, dau. of Rev. Samuel Baldwin (1). He d. in H., May 5, 1829, and his wid. d. Sept. 5, 1847. Engaged in the iron business at South Hanover, manufacturing anchors, carrying on this busi- ness on an extensive scale. He lived first in the Baldwin house on Hanover street, recently destroyed by fire, and afterwards on Broadway in the house for so long a time occupied by Isaac G. Stetson.
