REPORT OF HEALTH COMMISSIONER

Jan. 1, 1920.

On March 1st the Board of Health was abolished and the duties of this department were assumed by a Health Commissioner. The change has facilitated the work.

The equipment in the Sanitary division has been renewed and put in first class shape.

One new dump truck was added to the Ash Collection department, a new pump purchased for cesspool work and one new garbage wagon was also added. The results have been very apparent in small number of complaints.

The use of motor trucks in the collection of ashes has proved a success; service never before attained has been rendered.

The appointment of a Milk Inspector, giving all his time, has resulted in better conditions and by return of tests made, Quincy stands 6th in 75 cities and towns where the tests were made. 88 tests were made in our laboratory during the year.

EDWARD A. BEAN, Health Commissioner.

CHILD'S WELFARE

February 19, 1920.

On April 1, Mrs. Marie Ewing assumed charge of the Child's Welfare and has rendered efficient service to those dependent on this department.

24 Clinics were held and 285 children were examined and weighed. 225 families were visited and a total of 711 calls were made. 41 children sent to hospitals and 37 children referred to physicians for treatment.
